[ for several moments after maglor's voice fades, he remains still, expression stricken. at last, though, his fingers twitch, then curl, tightening gently around the elf's. not enough to harm, but enough to show that he hasn't been repulsed. ]

.. I see. [ his voice sounds thick when he speaks, as if he's scant moments from crying-- and indeed, his eyes do seem a little overbright, lashes damp. ] Oh, Maglor.. you've been through a lot, haven't you?

[bythewaves]

[ as he always is after dredging up those memories Maglor's voice is flat and controlled, his eyes empty and despairing, the light in them flickering low until he can control himself again ]

Nothing that I did not bring on myself. [ a shaky breath and he manages to pull himself together enough to smile a little ]

Do not weep for me, lord. For you see? You act unknowing and unwilling, and in that, I think, you do better than I.

[baltas]

[ he frees a hand, lifting it to rub the heel of his palm over his eyes, laughing a little shakily. ]

I'm sorry, I can't help it. Loki calls me a weepy princess. [ he huffs, shaking his head. ] Though Loki teases me a lot about everything, really.

[ a careful breath, making certain he's calm, before glancing back up, expression soft and a little wistful. ]

You ought to stay here, then, you know. I mean, it would be a good way to start over.

[bythewaves]

Those closest to us often know us well enough to tease the truest. [ Maglor quirks a small smile. Slowly, he looks a little less translucent - Maedhros wants him to stay, he promised that he'd try ]

Is Loki the friend you spoke of earlier?

[ a shrug ] There is nothing left for me at home.

[baltas]

Yes. [ the ambient light in the area seems to brighten gently, a warm, almost living glow. clearly, loki is very, very important to him. ] He's my best friend. He does tease me a lot, but it's just because he worries, I think. He and my brother have known.. about that other part of me for a lot longer than I have.

[ he presses his hands to his face to hide his blush. ]

.. Not to mention that I'm actually very clumsy, so I have a tendency of spraining my ankle or-- or falling on things or cutting myself or any number of other accidents.

[bythewaves]

[ That smile firms a little in amusement ]

The very best of friends, it sounds like. I am glad you have such joy in your life, lord, and I grieve that you must be sundered from them here.

[baltas]

Oh! Oh, no, it's-- it's for the best, really. [ he looks embarrassed, but it fades, leaving him pensive. ] I mean, I suppose I'm still.. dangerous here, but I think there's probably a chance that I'll find a way to seal that other part of me away for good. At least, I hope so.

[ he lowers his hands, curling them under his thighs absently, smile returning. ]

But-- But anyway, so you've decided to stay here. Have you been here long already? Do you.. have family or friends here?

[bythewaves]

Perhaps so, but I do not think it kind, all the same.

Not long. [ for an elf ] Perhaps some six or seven months, I would guess. I have... found friends here yes. And the vagaries of this place have brought to me kin and family, beyond all hope. But... I wish it not so. [ softly ] I wish it not so, for I would spare them this.
