i. locket.
[ the world is introduced to rise kujikawa sitting in a fluffy white bathrobe, her red hair in its usual trademark pigtails, at a fairly close angle--she backs up from the video after a second and drops her hands into her lap, smiling, perky as ever. ]

Helloooo, drabwurld. That's what this place is called, right? The drabwurld. Sounds kinda drab. [ she laughs, a clear, tinkling thing. ] But, it's better than the Midnight Channel so far--there's a lot less monsters! But a lot fewer of my friends, too. So I don't know anyone here, and I feel like my senpai--I'm the new girl here!

So tell me a little about yourselves! [ rise leans forward and puts her chin on her hands, smiling, cheerful--you can almost feel her energy through the screen. ] I want to be your friend, and you want to be my friend too... [ and, with a little bit of a pout, lashes lowered; ] Right?

Looking forward to hearing from you~ Bye now![ the video closes with her winking, and reaching forward to shut it off. ]

ii. the station.
[ rise is looking around the station like any teenage girl would do, poking in and out of the coffee shops, trying to scan the place as best as she can with himeko, but nothing's come up out of the ordinary yet. rather, her attention is taken completely by not the technology within the station, but the lack of posters. in fact, anything that's within it is completely void of posters of people's faces (aside from wanted posters, which oooh, so quaint) but not a single idol, advertising a new drink or movie or anything. no risette, but none of the other girls, either.

it's almost relieving.

so she's downright cheerful when she gets a cup of coffee from the fairies; noticing a person sitting alone across the room, rise strides over, all confidence and charisma, and smiles down, putting her hand on the empty chair and asking, sweetly-- ] Do you mind if I sit with you?

[And here is a kid who seems deeply lacking in confidence and charisma, but at least he seems nice, too. Startled, he looks up from his drink at the pretty girl. Oh no, a pretty girl. It's a good thing Marta isn't here or she'd get mad again with how he blushes.]

N-No, not at all! Uhm, please take it. Do you want me to leave so you can have some privacy?

[scanners]

[ rise is all bright smiles at the kid, who seems kind of shy; no matter! rise has dealt with everything from cute little kids to slobbering old fanboys, so she can most certainly handle it. so she just pulls the chair out and settles down in it, setting her coffee down and shaking her hand as a "no, no" gesture with the other. ]

No, definitely not! You were here first--we can sit together. Drinking coffee in a nice place like this all by yourself is kind of lonely, don't you think?

[ settling, she fixes her skirt, and then offers her hand. ] I'm Rise. What's your name?

[What a nice, outgoing girl. The kind he has no idea how to talk to. Well, he doesn't know how to talk to most people. But he's getting better at it. So despite his red cheeks, he smiles back.]

I'm Emil. It really was a little lonely but I don't know anyone here.

[Talking about loneliness probably isn't a good conversation topic though. Quick, he has to think of something better.]

S-So, is this place like your home? It's more advanced than anything I know.

[scanners]

I don't know anyone either - [ rise cocks her head, pigtails bouncing. ] But now we know each other! No more being lonely.

[ for a moment, she pauses and wrinkles her nose, thinking about it and taking a long sip of her fairy coffee. ]

Hmmmm...not at all! We don't have fairies or magic or anything like that. [ well...sort of. but it's kind of complicated. rise's not about to tell people that she has a persona, at least not yet. ] I just go to high school!

Is it like that for you?

[aureinsof]

[She really is cute. He tries not to think about it though.]

Not exactly. We do have magic but only some people can use it. I can't. And... I was going to school, too! But a lot of things happened and somehow I got caught up in saving the world. I know that sounds really unbelievable and strange but trust me, it's even weirder for me. So I haven't been back to school in a few months.

[ "sitting" is certainly one word for what junpei was doing before rise comes over to say hi. "sleeping" is another, more accurate word for it. come ON yuka-tan, why you gotta shop forever? (just be glad you're not there to carry stuff for her, stupei.)

he sits up fast enough, accidentally kicking the baseball bat bag propped up against the table and nearly losing his hat. remember that girl at gekkoukan high for the field trip? same logo on his uniform, along with a red armband — definitely not anything the disciplinary committee picks out, what with the english letters.

oh, snap, she's cute! ]

Oh, uh, yeah!

[scanners]

[ target acquired: +1 kid with a school uniform that looks familiar. rise had been eyeing the sleeping guy from across the coffee shop when they made her iced mocha, trying to figure out what, exactly, was totally familiar about him, and it clicks after he sits up and she sees the armband.

rise's eyes get wide and she immediately sits down, learning forward into the weird guy with the hat's space with zero regards for anything besides the fact that, omg, someone familiar. sort of. maybe?

well, whatever. ] Did you go to Gekkoukan?

[ junpei leeeeeans back appropriately as she gets up in his grill. uh. she... looks familiar... his evoker reflects some of the light as he leans back and his jacket shifts, but he just fixes his hat back into it's proper place, grinning as he sort of gets his bearings. ]

I don't recognize your uniform, though. What school are you?

[ maybe she's from one of the public schools the sports teams play against... :|a but... WHY DOES SHE SEEM SO FAMILIAR.... ]

[scanners]

You're like the first person I've met who's from home! I thought maybe Senpai and the others were just going to come later, but, so far it's just been me! But if you're from the island, you can't be that weird. I go to Yasogami!

[ rise is all exuberant and cheerful at the fact that someone is from japan, at least, because no one else is; seriously, it's been sort of great and sort of weird at the same time, because having no one recognize her up until this guy has been nice.

she sighs, just a second, drops her shoulders, then grins, grabs her coffee cup, and holds it to her face. ] I'm tired of dieting, and going to the gym! Now there's something even I can handle!

[ she winks at the end because tiny precious idol! ]

[ wh...at is she doing... ]

[ of course yukari would pick that exact moment to finally find junpei after her time spent in the shoe store (seriously, she got herself great, comfortable boots for trekking through the woods). gasping in surprise, yukari runs up to the sitting area, drops her bags at junpei's feet and reaches for rise, resting a hand on her shoulder. ]

Hey, hey, it's okay!

[snipers]

[ she snaps her head toward junpei, her lip curled in annoyance ]

What the heck did you do, Stupei!? You can't go around making girls cry like this!!

[snipers]

Ugh! Nevermind, I'll deal with you later!

[ doesn't even give junpei the chance to respond, putting her attention and energy back on rise as she tries to speak comfortingly. ]

Don't let what Stupei said get to you, okay? He doesn't think before he talks — he's a real dumbass.

[slugout]

[ good question, what DID he do? ]

[ oh god she's crying..... UHHHHH WHAT.... DOES.... HE DO....
