[Can't you see she just sat down? Rude. With another heavy sigh, she gets to her feet.]

Alright, lead me there. You'd best have a bed made up when we finish. And tea sent in the morning.

[A flippant way to say she'll gladly talk with him for hours upon hours.]
bolincredible: (then yknow we were sort of)

gently slams into arriving option

[ Bolin has no idea who this guy is, but he's digging the cut of his jib. If there's any sort of credo he actually lives by, "talk to strangers and never turn down a free meal" is probably the base summary of it, after all. Sup dude he feels you. ]

Huh? Oh, yeah, that stuff! You know, I never have asked exactly what it is? I thought about it once, but I got seriously off-track, and then it's hard to figure out if a fairy's giving you a straight answer anyway. So I just figured, you know what? It tastes fine and I can work with that. [ And he wasn't poisoned, and Mako probably felt the urge to roll his eyes all the way across the hall. Same old, same old. ] Better with bread, though.

[Wait what.

Her face, rather comically, turns several shades of pink before colouring a red that nearly matches her hair. Her anger drains and she's just left confused before she recovers.]

If I wanted to slay one I would've done it myself.

[Clearly the best comeback ever.]

[personal profile] bethany_hawke 2015-01-05 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
No, he should not be one of them, if they're all that bad. Though perhaps if Varric is among them, they're not evil. Maybe misunderstood, like any of the mages from their world.

"I'm not fond of the idea of taking up arms in a war I don't fully understand. What will you do? Stay here?"

[It's dim enough that Sabriel has to conjure a small light to look at the handkerchief, taking her hands off her sword-hilt.]

I- yes, this is mine. Is this why you were following me?

[And Sabriel folds it up and tucks it into a pouch at her belt, and turns her attention to her surroundings- while still watching the man out fo the corner of her eye. He doesn't look that impressive, but still.]

My name is Sabriel. I don't believe we've met?
cockade: (De la plaisanterie)

lavellan pls

[Her question doesn't seem forward to him at all, actually. Arno smiles again and nods.]

I wouldn't mind at all- at the very least, the journey will allow us to learn where Loch Noa is, and you'll hopefully find your answers.

[The saddle and blanket are already on his horse, but he gently takes the reins in his hands from a nearby post, talking to the colt as he places it on his head. The horse hardly complains, but does push his nose into Arno's hand for food shortly after the harness goes on. That gets a chuckle, and as the assassin goes to reach for something to give to his ride, the colt manages to grab the cloth of his hood and pull it down.

What he gets is a very surprised Frenchman raising both brows, while the horse gives something akin to a laugh, whinnying in delight. Arno stands there for a good solid moment, looking between his horse, Lavellan, and then back to his horse again, before shaking his head and laughing.]

Of course I choose the mischievous horse. [He snorts a little in amusement.] Somehow trouble always ends up finding me.

[Waver grabs her coat and other things before leading her back, into the kitchen and then up the stairs. He pauses, long enough to put the coat in the guest room, then continues down the corridor to the study.

Waver unlocks the door, the usual runes and wards lighting up around the door frame for a moment before disappearing. The door opens, and he stands aside for Reines.]

The guest room is yours until we expand. After you, as always.

Never once? Isn't that a little suspicious, then? He must be looking away on purpose. Otherwise, even without having interest, anyone would look at least once, wouldn't you say? Wanting to share the same bed is all the more suspicious...
respired: and it isn't for play (but it's not just for work)

[personal profile] respired 2015-01-05 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry -- I only harm the living if they deserve it. [Most of the time.]

[personal profile] gandere 2015-01-05 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
There's... there's nothing suspicious about it. [ Her voice fails her and instead of the usual fire behind it, there's only pitiful squeaks. ]

B-but if we're to be married in our future, why wouldn't he just take a peek at how beautiful his wife was in her youth?
elmelloiprincess: (8)

[personal profile] elmelloiprincess 2015-01-05 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reines dips her head in acknowledgement of his courtesy, and immediately takes a seat. She would look through Waver's things, but she'll wait until he isn't around for that.]

Good, I don't plan to remain a guest.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[These are the smart moves of a smart woman, and Gilgamesh notes them as such—calculating without veering into what he would consider dismissive and disrespectful. Gilgamesh has no doubts she would bend to him if he willed it, but in acknowledgment of her shrewdness, the hand does not press its luck again.

Instead it wanders over the map, finger tracing along lines and those meticulously labeled routes. Usually he regulated pouring over these things to his own men, but even he must admire the work on display here.]

A wise investment. There is never a lack for sugar and spice. [Eyes flicking back to her face, warm in the glow of candlelight.] What awaits on the seas beyond? There, as well, land ripe for the taking?
elmelloiprincess: (7)

[personal profile] elmelloiprincess 2015-01-05 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Reines' smile becomes thin as she presses her lips together, trying very hard not to laugh. Oh, Rin, this is too easy.]

Perhaps when your back is turned? On the other hand, despite being an old man, he is a gentleman. Looking at you like that would be gross.

[Waver settles on the sofa, casting a brief glance to the coffee table. A map of the Drabwurld is under the glass, now with annotations of spires and a citadel.]

We're already quite full. Rin's here, has been since October. My servant from the 4th Holy Grail War, Rider, is also living here. I'll introduce you to him tomorrow. And I've been here for nine months, Reines. Since April.

[personal profile] gandere 2015-01-05 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a legal adult and b-besides, women are of age at twelve years here-!

If you're unlucky, the monarchs will marry you off to some gross old man yourself!

"Hermyown", "Hermione", "Herm-owninny"...

[(Viktor. Expanse of air, clever enough to catch the little bird, but when not seeking, strong and tall like a stone wall carved and climbing itself -- nothing like the boys who I love instead of like; those boys are my friends...)

It's a name that's been played with in the past, if unintentionally; he weaves through it in a quick-ish mutter and then:]

Hermione. ...Thank you. -- It's nice to meet you, too.

[Whether or not the being-acquainted will stick, in her memory. And... he almost didn't notice the hand! Head turns down, and, this is what people do - holds his own out tentatively just a moment or two before taking hers, lightly shakes his forearm.

Watches himself doing it just to be sure he is doing it and then back up to her face. Manages to let a bit of extra brightness out, too!]

-- And it was nice for many of the others to meet you. It isn't easy -- soothing stresses when they speak so loudly from so many sources, helping people know enough to right and ready them not to fly instead of falling -- even when you can tell, but, [His head tips to bob.] - you're clever, and you've been working hard.

A lot of people feel clearer, less confused, now, than when they first came into the court. -- It's still hard, but - easier because you made it...

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Never before has he met a lion keeping so close to his own counsel and speaking with such assuredness to rival his own. He says these outlandish things, and Gilgamesh believes him. And to see the hearts of men...

Well, Gilgamesh was a man once, if no longer, or at least ruled them. And so he is curious, and so he cannot help but ask:]

Then you may look upon my own and judge me accordingly. I grant you this right.

[Inclining his head, ever so slightly.]

If your answer pleases me, we may continue our discourse elsewhere. The halls do not suit you, lion, for reasons aplenty.

"Only by you. Please." A make-yourself-comfortable gesture at the chair. "So where do you hail from, Mr Gray? And I suppose 'when' is an apposite question as well."

She watches him carefully; his face is just as she remembers, of course, but his voice and manner seem subtly different. How and why—that's the important thing to figure out before she says anything that might cause trouble.

What- is that supposed to be a joke? That's not funny! [And it suddenly dawns on Sabriel in horrifying clarity that she's been talking to something Dead.]

I will permit you to travel in my entourage for this endeavor.

[Surely the highest of all honors, at least Gilgamesh seems to think so. He answers so casually, the verbal equivalent of shrugging off a flea, that it seems less of an offer and more of a given that she would do as he bids and come along.]

So you may witness true glory and seek to emulate it, rather than...

[Uh...]

...whatever it is you're doing. Mongrel.
wholesail: (Love letters from under his bed)

[personal profile] wholesail 2015-01-05 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That was the theory going into the whole thing.

[There's plenty of what's in the sea, but beyond? There's no beyond, and that's something to be clarified.]

What's on the map is what's out there. Everything else is well, nothing. No boats go out to the edges of the map, since they don't come back if they do.

[No, this way is perfect. Shhhh.

She snickers.]

You'll see.

[Finally, she's climbing the rope up to the wall. Rope burn rrrrrrrgh.]

I never joke.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That is because I am no mere man.

[Obviously. But as her simplicity of spirit continues to amuse, he doesn't belittle her for it. One can never have enough loyal vassals, following orders and singing your praises on command. Their other talents were secondary to this.

She must sound lovely when she sings, he thinks. Perhaps he'll test that theory later.]

Though I must wonder why so many willingly wear the shackles of these so-called monarchs. Are they truly that lowly, as to swear fealty to an unworthy liege? [Looking to her, expectantly.] Are you?

[His wife would be more than happy to make him sit and eat. If she weren't focused on weaving her way through the crowds in an effort to get to the halls that would lead to hers and Arwen's rooms. She'd spent several weeks on the road, training a group of healers at the queens request and returning to the castle to make sure to report on it. She wants to rest in a proper bed after cleaning up and relaxing at the feast.

So as Celebrían comes near him, she may not look quite as he might expect. Her clothes are a bit dirty from travel, there's a warm cloak over her shoulders though and a leather pack she's carrying that holds the familiar smell of herbs. She's had nowhere to properly clean up and her hair is tied up in a messy braid, silver hair that's hard to hide though and if he hasn't already noticed her, she's most definitely noticed him.

The sight of him makes her heart clench and tears well up, makes her throat burn and her hand moves to the pendant Fili and Kili made her. The pendant that has his shard from when he disappeared so many months before.]

Elrond. [Her voice cracks. Her mother had told her, convinced her, that Elrond was alright. That his disappearing from Drabwurld didn't mean he'd died as the boy she'd spoken with had implied. It's so different though, actually seeing him alive and well.]
