[ the problem is that it's just ridiculous enough to sound absolutely plausible for this place. luckily for sam ( maybe not so much for loki ), he has fuck all to trade for it and would rather go without some delightfully stale bread than give up either of the feeble little pocket knives he has by way of defense.

but it's also equally plausible this kid's just poking fun. sam hasn't had the good fortune of meeting a laufeyson just yet, though he's seen the news footage of that dude in the trippy cow hat from new york. there isn't enough to make a connection here ( this guy's younger, shorter, and his horns are cuter ), but even without it, sam's got enough good humor to roll with it anyway. ]
