...we come from two completely different worlds, Rider. I'm afraid trying to explain it would be futile.

Not literally, just. Buncha pirate scum and cool honorable knights. They're so far apart in his mind that it's how he views it.
Also he doesn't actually stop her from linking arms with him, surprisingly enough. He leads on without objection.

But Knights do not behave as improperly as pirates. We cannot afford to, lest we sully the very position we hold and tarnish it's good image.

And where he leads her is...just the table for the feast. But there's plenty of wine to be had, so it's as good as any.
He does try to pull out her chair for her once they get there, like the nerd he is...she's still a lady!! Even if she's...well, rider.
