[ Truthfully, Zack has never really be much of a party-goer himself. Even in SOLDIER, he was always too driven, too focused on his goal to be distracted by such things, and as things got progressively worse, he found more solace in a small, run-down church in the slums than anywhere else.
He comes, though. If for no other reason, he's curious to see the newcomers who have arrived here from other worlds. He holds onto the hope that he might see someone he knows, and discourages it in the same breath. For someone like him who knows he only lives now because of the faeries who picked him up and carried him here, it's not so bad. For his own friends, people he never expects to see again, he wouldn't wish them to be whisked away from Gaia to fight in a war worlds away when their own home has so many problems.
He gives up on the feast himself before too long, and he's in the process of pushing away from the table when he bumps into someone by accident. ]
