Hey, look around. You're in a fairy castle. I'm far from the weirdest thing you're going to run into.

[ Mildly stung, gosh. Rolling his eyes, he conjures up a snowflake on a palm. ]

I'm Jack Frost, I bring the ice and snow. Or I did, back home. Look, kid, I'm not gonna hurt you.
icy: keep up then. (wassup broseph how you doin'.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-24 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Delighted when she joins in with the spirit of the moment, Jack can feel the wind ahead and calls it without a word, drawing it to him as easily as he ever guides the weather, ruffling their hair and clothes. ]

We shouldn't, huh? Whoops ...

[ He cheats and uses the breeze to pull him along, faster as their ice overlaps and creates a road for them to use as they head out of the castle, Jack making a show of how easy it is for him to take the lead. Troll. He doesn't quite fly, but he certainly isn't going all-out with the skating like Elsa, just a push here and there and the wind launches him forward. ]

Are you okay there? You look like you might actually break a sweat.

Maglor is painfully thin, and even in the brief time they have been parted, Maedhros can see the signs that he has started to Fade, ever so slightly.

"Where you go, I go" is the rejoinder (to his shirt, because Maglor has no intention of letting go). "I have lost you twice now. Do not send me away."
bythewaves: (indignant)

[personal profile] bythewaves 2014-03-24 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Maglor spins with a snarl, eyes bright and feral, hand dropping to his sword before pulling it away with a pained hiss (he forgets his burnt hands, the mental agony is so much worse) ]

Who is there?
breadmaking: (explaining a thing)

[personal profile] breadmaking 2014-03-24 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Right... Right, fairy castle...

[Okay, breathing now. Breathing like a normal person, anyway; nice calm, deep breaths. ...Pretending like this Jack Frost guy just making a snowflake out of nothing isn't completely bizarre.]

I'm just, uh. I don't think--uhm. [He can talk, just give him a sec.] ...That's just, uh, really new. To me. I've never seen...

[He gestures awkwardly to the snowflake, and then the ground all around them.]

That. Before.

"Ah yes, I am still a stranger to these parts as well," Radagast nodded, tilting his hat up to let his bird friend out from the nest which had been hidden underneath. He peered at him once more before turning away slightly. "I don't like this magic, not one bit. Come, come!" the wizard said, gesturing for the other to follow him. "We can't stop here."
icy: but placing no bets. (hedging closer.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-24 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Time for Real Talk, the kind where he stems the urge to roll his eyes and his lashes flutter as a result before he locks onto Hiccup, raising his brows. ]

Do you want me to stop doing it?

[ He will, if it bothers him so much. The kid isn't too far into his teens, so Jack shows him a lot more mercy than anyone older would garner. ]

Charles pulled a face at the suggestion to 'not poke bad things.' He was not exactly known for his 'look first' attitude; it was usually leap in and wonder about the consequences after the fact.

Though, given the events on the beach he was starting to come to the realization that perhaps he ought to temper his impulsive belief that he could make everything work the way he wanted it too simply by will alone.

He shook the thought off as Jack's latter words sank in and both eyebrows arched upwards.

"The Boogeyman?"
breadmaking: (unsure)

[personal profile] breadmaking 2014-03-24 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh.

[He takes a minute to consider the offer, but after a moment gives his head a slow shake. One that's almost unsure that his answer is going to be the right one.]

No. ...No, that's okay. I mean, you're right, this is a fairy castle. I should probably...start getting used to those kinds of things. [Scratching at the back of his head, Hiccup deflates a little, considerably calmer now.] Sorry. That may have been a slight overreaction.
icy: and rarely late. (people like me because I am polite.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-24 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know, it sounds stupid. He's as real as you or me, though, and he's called Pitch Black. He's from my world."

Does he ever feel like an idiot having to explain all of this to a grown man. Kids? Sure. Children already know that the fae are real, on some level, even if none of them ever saw Jack prior to Jamie. Adults, however, are another matter.

"When he comes out of the shadows, Pitch is really tall. We're talking seven-foot, you can't miss him." Pausing, he glances down before adding, "And he knows your fears on-sight."
icy: not your knight in shining armour. (wooo I'm not your boyfriend baby.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-24 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ His shrug is careless, deliberately so. ]

You over-react to a lot, I'm guessing. [ It's then he gets a good look at what the boy is wearing, and ... well. That get-up is a little too old to be a blast even from Jack's past. ] What's your name? And where were you going?
excessivehubris: (Tea Reach)

[personal profile] excessivehubris 2014-03-25 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like a lovely fellow," Charles said with more than a hint of trepidation and he took a sip of tea; the natural fortifier!

"So he's here as well, with you? Someone else from your world?"

Though it sounded as if perhaps this Pitch Black fellow may not be precisely a friend, Charles had to admit that despite everything that had gone down between them, he'd be quite happy to see Erik. Then, in an effort to (once again) try to stop questioning Jack like a test subject, Charles attempt to push them back onto more common ground.

"Does that happen here? People from the same world?"
icy: did you think of that. (maybe we are all drunk.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-25 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I think so. It's hard to tell, what with all the messing around in shadows he does. If he was here, he'd be holding a grudge against me, I know that much."

To put it lightly, at any rate.

"It does, yeah. A couple of people I spoke to knew each other." Up go his brows. "Would you rather have one of your friends here with you?"
huge_egomd: (you srsly did what?)

[personal profile] huge_egomd 2014-03-25 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
House's eyebrows rose. The other man had gotten way closer to nature than he could've imagined. Or possibly he just had a weird thing for birds. Either way....

"You had a bird on your...." He shook his head, still flabbergasted but realizing there was no real point in stating the obvious. The bird man already knew he had a nest on his head.

Despite his rather confused state, or perhaps because of it, he started to follow the stranger. "I'm probably going to regret asking but...why can't we stop here?"

I don't sweat, I glow.

[ she exhales quick ( not gasp! it wasn't a gasp ) when she feels the wind around them, shaking her hair out of her face as she tries to turn and watch what he's doing. but it's nothing specific, it doesn't even look like he's trying! he's just. doing it. and for a second, she feels extremely jealous. the only time she felt that kind of ease and confidence in her powers was when she was alone, out in the middle of nowhere, free to play without the fear of hurting anyone. she shouldn't ask, it's too revealing, makes it too obvious she's still learning, but- ]

How are you doing that? I can feel it. [ the shift in the wind, she means. it's not abrupt or out of place, but it's almost like the gust is following them. she flattens her hands out in front of her, like she's been doing a lot lately, just turning them over like she's still not sure what they're capable of. which she really isn't. it makes her slow down a little bit, especially once she starts skating in small circles between pushes ] I wonder if I can do it too.
hexuality: (ready for a fight; petulance)

[ She's wondering how to best extract herself from this conversation while he prattles on about boots and tea and women and she really could just hex him but she's going to reign in her temper and bite her tongue—

Large. Cornish. Girl. ]

Beg pardon. [ What if she just slapped that smug look off his face? The indignation is there, the idea that he doesn't know a thing about her, what she's survived, what she's done and seen. ] First of all, I'm from Devon, thanks very much, and second of all, try that cheek with me one more time and we'll see how clever you think you are when you're wobbling around on jellied legs and being attacked by your own bogies.
hexuality: (amused smile; happiest)

oh my god, you dear viking

[personal profile] hexuality 2014-03-25 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ Surprisingly not a horrible reaction. She just laughs again, waving off the clear mortification. ]

Hey, don't look like that. It's true. Weasleys know how to eat. [ And she extends her hand, smiling. ] That's the name, by the way. Ginny Weasley. And if you think this is fast, you wouldn't know what to do with my brothers. Ghastly.

[ Is she winking? She totally just winked. ]

[The thing, which blended in well with the canopy, tsked and jumped down to the ground, graceful as a cat.]

Hurt yourself? You'll find that's dangerous in these parts.
icy: say you have and you're a slut. (say you haven't and you're a prude.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-25 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
You glow with sweat, you mean.

[ Jack shrugs by way of an answer. When they pass outside into the courtyard, the bailey turns into something of a winter wonderland with ice sweeping across the ground, up trees and through bushes and Jack kicks off from the ground, twirling his staff around his fingers as he goes like the show-off he is. He has reason to be, at least, for he doesn't once falter. ]

Can't fly, Elsa? [ Zooming overhead as he veers back around, he sprinkles her with snowflakes, laughter echoing bell-like into the evening sky. ] Maybe you should catch me, then I could pull you along. Slowpoke.

Not exactly. You're way too big to be one. [And...less human-like? He'll choose to withhold that comment.]

Pixie dust is the only way I know how of, so I figured you had some. [After gesturing towards her feet, Roxas takes a moment to heave himself up unto the railing so he can face her while seated. It's obvious from his smile that he's not even close to being worried about falling over, and he swings his legs a little in time to mimic her.]

I'm Roxas, by the way.

Charles is quiet for a moment, giving it some thought. Given what he's learned of this world, he doesn't kid himself that he and Erik, for that matter he and Raven would find themselves on opposite sides of the Seelie / UnSeelie conflict.

"I suppose not," he said in a pensive tone. "At least, not the way I was brought here. If they were given a choice and came of their own design..."

That might be a different story but even then, his lips twitch and he glanced back up at Jack.

"I fear we'd be on opposite sides in this world."

Perhaps it might have been easier, if Maglor did Fade. If he washed up on the shores of Valinor again, found their mother and their host of brothers, dipped his heart into the warm hearth that had borne it forth. If it could have been so — yes, Maedhros would sunder their bond, a thousand times over.

He says none of this.

"You are as stubborn as an ox," says Maedhros. "Even if I send you away, I've no doubt that you will appear again as soon as I've turned my back."
icy: I could be him. (you need him.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-03-25 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"You shouldn't let that stop you being friends. I wouldn't with mine."

Friends are hard come-by for Jack. They are also hard-won (see: Aster) and mean the world to him. No matter what anyone says about this or that faction being on opposite sides ...

"Fighting with them shouldn't even be an option, especially not just because someone else says so."
breadmaking: (confused)

[personal profile] breadmaking 2014-03-25 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
[He so does not overreact a lot, gosh. That comment earns a look, but Hiccup lets it go to focus on this whole introduction thing.]

Hiccup. [Don't laugh, okay.] And I was just looking around, not really going anywhere. This, uh. This place is a lot bigger than buildings I'm used to, so I guess I was just curious?

[ A week he has been here and a week has his son been returned to him from the Undying Lands. A strange enough and unlooked-for backhanded blessing, of sorts, even as much disruption as it has caused Legolas's grieving heart. What he never expected was to see someone so familiar (so unforgettable) return from the dead.

Lost forever is Lúthien, along with her lover whose fate she opted to share, and Thranduil cannot say they have ever spoken but it would be impossible to forget the radiant face of Thingol's daughter, witnessed from a distance in his youth. Proprietary manners, etc. It all comes rushing back to him as if he stands in Menegroth itself; his simple life as a huntsman, then marchwarden for a time, having only seen her at court as many times as he can count on one hand and even then without him becoming known to her. Thranduil would have been Legolas's age, now closing in on seven-thousand years.

He feels strangely foolish for wearing his crown from Eryn Lasgalen before her, stepping forward from where he paused at the entrance to the bailey's gardens. ]

My Lady, might I join your company?
