[ The pinch hurts like a pinch should, and Kami feels a tremble of relief. Sometimes she has that niggling fear in the back of her mind, that maybe Jared is real but maybe Kami is still crazy after all. You can't live with someone else in your head and in your heart for seventeen years without it twisting you up a little inside. She'd thought - okay, magic is real, hyakume and wood spirits and sorcerers are real, so why not fairies? If one story is real, surely a hundred must be.

But other...other realms, other worlds, other places entirely - and that's what this girl Alayne and the things she knows and the things she doesn't means - that's something else. It could the kind of story a person would make up all on their own, if a person is crazy enough. ]


Maybe we are. From what I remember of fairytales, the fae didn't exactly inspire a whole lot of mental stability in the people they touched.
