[Jon knows the look of a beast that wants him to follow, and he gives Ghost only half a glance before acquiescing gladly. He remembers with sudden clarity the dream he'd had so long ago of Bran's face in the weirwood tree, when he smelled of dark, damp, dead places and lifted the white finger branch up to touch Jon's forehead, giving him a third eye. It was that night he walked in his direwolf's skin for the first time and saw the wildling hoard sprawled across the Milkwater.

He doesn't know why he thinks of the queer dream so suddenly, following his broken little brother's wolf through the halls of a castle full of fairies, only that he does.

He still wants his father back, he still feels stung and betrayed by the whim of the High King and Queen that gave him his head only to take it away again a few short moon turns later, but seeing Summer brings back the hope Jon had nursed for so long - the hope he'd finally let die when Eddard Stark disappeared.

In this place, he might so easily see his brothers again, where the whole of the world conspired against it happening back home. From the time he arrived until the time he left near the middle of the night, defeated, he'd looked high and low at every big feast for a glimpse of auburn hair and bright blue Tully eyes - mostly for Robb, admittedly, but for little Bran and littler Rickon, too. And now that there's a hint of him, Jon's letting his heart get away with him, nearly tripping over himself to stay on Summer's tail.]
