[ oh. ]

[ okay, so ... maybe this is a lot harder than he thought it would be, but sokka is actively trying not to open his mouth and let a waterfall of words spill out, despite the fact that they're all swimming around in his head and being swept away with the current headed straight for his mouth. he shifts uncomfortably, his eyes darting around the room as if focusing his attention on anything other than zuko just standing there and waiting will actually help. ]

[ it doesn't. it just makes him want to talk more, because he has so many questions and he can't just be expected to keep quiet about all of this. zuko obviously arrived before sokka, and it seems to him zuko knows more than he's letting on, and sokka wants to know everything so he can figure a way out of this place. that's what he's good at, right? making plans and coming up with ideas. if he can break them out of the highest security fire nation prison, he can break them out of anywhere. ]

[ though ... it doesn't seem like zuko particularly wants to leave. he wasn't greeted by "sokka! thank the spirits you're here, you're just who i've been waiting for to bust me out of here!" he's pretty sure zuko would never say that, anyway, but his inner zuko can say whatever he wants. besides, if zuko really wanted to, he could find his own way out. sokka might be the idea guy, but zuko kind of has that whole firebending thing going for him. it's probably pretty easy to escape anywhere when you can just burn everything around you. ]

[ when he finally looks back to zuko, he almost looks like he's going to be physically ill from the lack of his own voice permeating the air. he frowns, lips pressed tightly together, in hopes that zuko will break the silence first. hah. fat chance of that, right? with a groan, sokka throws his hands in the air in defeat and then slumps his shoulders, sighing heavily. ] Okay, fine. I give!

It is a sad fate for anyone, my lady.

[ This from the prince of elfland, who exiled himself on purposes. ]

[sokkcasm]

[ he stares at zuko with wide eyes now, desperate for zuko to say something, anything. his hands clasp against zuko's extremely nicely toned biceps firmly. ] Come on, buddy, talk to me. I can't stand the silence.

Very well, my sister. Show me your pets.

[ Like little children, except they do know better, how their behavior is destroying the natural world. And they care not. He's lived among them long enough to know that the pursuit of money and status is more precious to them than the sight of a dandelion field. ]

Regent. King. Prince. They all mean ruler, whether it is my own interests or on behalf of another. [ He sighs, bowing his head for a moment, before reaching down to capture a hand and lift it to his lips. ] For your sake, and our people, then. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you always have to make a point of being the best, that'd be obnoxious. Besides, who wants a gangly guy yapping on about dragons all the time? Approximately no one.

[ Hiccup rubs the back of his head, ruffling his hair. With a frankness born of experience in the Drabwurld, he tells him, ]

You should guard your blood, then. [ Which is a weird thing to tell anyone, but he sincerely means it. ] More than you normally would, anyway. People are always greedy for magical content in just about anything.

[ While the rabbit seems content staying between the both of them, something about that makes her skin crawl, just a little. Taking the mark came with strange hallucinations that Alice was sure that they were her own. She knows the Outsider has mentioned a few more like her, who have received that mark.

Those who were more than just average, the ones who kept him entertained by him. It had all the hallmarks of 'Faust', in a sense. The Outsider was neither a good or evil presence, Alice knew this. She knows at the very least, if anyone else had the mark in Drabwurld, Alice would hear about it from the Outsider. ]

Does he.

[ How many were there that the Outsider took a liking to? Alice gives a little pat of the rabbit's head and pulls her hand back up to flex it. ]

Well. My friend that gave this to me he would have said something. As a matter of fact, I'm sure I wouldn't hear the end of it.

[ Alice frowns even deeper. ]

But that does not mean he wouldn't come here, too.

No, it would mean you strove to best yourself. [ Blessed Danu, does the boy have no self respect whatsoever? Nuada frowns, dropping all pretense at not being dangerous, and moves forward until he's in danger of looming over Hiccup.

Or as much looming as a six-foot-something elf prince can. ]

I would. Dragons are magnificent creatures. Their intelligence is immeasurable, as is their magic. And if you can get one to tell you stories, even if in exchange for gold, it is well worth it.

[ ... and then someone has to ruin his lapse in judgement. ] It does not work in that manner. But I would be happy to remove the head of any fool who tries.

[ Hiccup's smile is a little wry until he finds himself with a faceful of Elf, raising his chin a little so his own height of six-foot-one gives him back a minor advantage. Not much, considering Nuada is around fifty times as threatening (and would probably still be so if he was three-foot tall, since Hiccup could be twelve-feet and still as frightening as a limp loaf). At least the guy knows how to take care of himself, as if a first glance couldn't have told Hiccup that anyway.

He zones in his predictable topic of interest. ]

What kind of dragon is magical? I've never met one who could speak anything but Dragonese. [ Even as wary as he is, his eyes are wide with fascination at the prospect of hearing a dragon talk, as in with real words. ] You've seen them?

[Wandering around the station, Naruto had finally found his favorite food. Ramen. It wasn't all that great but it would do. He had been worried that he wouldn't find the blessed food. Looked around for a place to see when he saw a man with a metal arm practicing with a knife. Was this another shinobi from his world? In both hope and dread, he decided to get closer without alerting in order to confirm.]

Wow, he is skilled in Bukijutsu.

[As luck would have it, his stomach growled when he whispered to himself. Naruto clearly forgot he was hungry as he came out from his spot with a embarrassed grin.]

Gomen, I saw you practicing and...

I could say the same. My realm sickened under the influence of a dark lord, one who choked the trees and mutilated the fauna with giant spiders. Marchwardens have always been a necessity, even in times of supposed peace.

That, and I do not take kindly to common trespassers on the roads my people make.

[ Looking at you, Thorin. ]

[As soon as he hears the new arrival, he snaps his head around to look at him. He lowers his arm, but his knife is still at the ready, and he's not relaxing at all.

He stares silently for a long moment.]

What do you want?

[aureinsof]

What the hell? I'm not mocking you! I'm tired of everyone thinking I'm insensitive or whatever! I'm just helping!

[What.] Do you mean to say you . . . you were truly trying to help?

I said I was, idiot. If it's broken like that, you could just toss it. See, problem fixed.

[He couldn't really believe what he was seeing. Well not exactly. Naruto was taken from his world to another. Perhaps this red-haired woman was in fact one of his clan members. Then again, she could be completely unrelated to him. While he had been glad to find out only he and another from his world were here, it felt like he was alone. And the other person wasn't an ally of his, actually, far from it. Which didn't really help him relax.

No. He had to know. If the courts had taken away one of his clan members then he had to help them. Even though his clan was scattered and he an orphan. Naruto took a breath before he walked over to her and smiled.]

[Dorian stops, and he genuinely thinks about it.] Then . . . thank you. That was very kind of you.

[ Some small part of him can't help but be charmed by the so-very-official nature of it all. Not that he has no intention of taking her request seriously, but...well, he's going to have to figure out something to do with the jammy parchment. For now, though, he (carefully) takes it in hand. ]

Gabranth. [ He pauses, considering her earlier declarations. ] Have I correctly assumed that you are an heiress of royal blood?

[ He can only assume as much, after all, from the way she'd called herself Empress Emily and the stately air she attempts to maintain. Of course, the possibility remains that she's merely pretending at such things, or that she's already assumed the throne — but the fairies do seem inclined to drawing in shardbearers of royal descent, in regards to the former, and she seems rather young for the latter.

Then again, she can't be much younger than Larsa... ]

[Wait. He's kind? Emil blinks a few times.] ...Huh. Can't say I've heard that much outside of Marta and she wasn't exactly talking to me last I knew.

[What does he say now. This is so stupid. He's not pathetic like his other self.]

[Of course Buffy already knew that, but the point in saying it was to hear it herself. She'd be looking forward to seeing Willow over the next couple of days, but for the moment knowing what she heard to be true brings her a little more comfort. How Buffy and soon Willow would be with her, that is.

She ends up giving a small smile back.]

[He blinks, but he's not about to apologize because he's done nothing wrong. Besides, he doesn't know how to be polite. It's irrelevant.

He tilts his head slightly at the words. He doesn't know the word shinobi. It sounds like Japanese, but he doesn't know Japanese.]

I don't know what that is.
