[He shakes his head.]

A future war, then.

[If there are others, evidently his Master doesn't end up succeeding in that foolish goal of stopping the Grail War. That's good. He smiles in satisfaction with that assumed knowledge.]

No, indeed it's impossible you should be that Saber, that one would have prevented harm to come to anything. In fact, should a Saber not be full of honour? What is a woman so disaffected doing in such a class?

[Being purposefully antagonistic is the right course of action.]
fiddles: (Cuz I'm bloody fucking nuts)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-10 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Should she tell him? Nah.]

Why am I a Saber?

[She sets down her glass. Full of honour? She had pride. She had values. She loved her people--her city. Her empire. She was no hero, Saber would readily attest to that, but she was certainly worthy of being summoned.]

No other class would do for a proper emperor. [She lets that slip but does it really matter since this man was a Berserker? He probably wouldn't even remember this conversation in a few moments.] I'm not foolish enough to call myself a hero but when it comes to my skills, the regal Saber class is the only one that suits me.

[If she's honest, she's more suitable for being a Rider but she'd never admit it.]
cagedinflesh: (and the truth is)

[personal profile] cagedinflesh 2014-11-10 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
A female emperor. Which?

[He asks it bluntly, as there's no point in being subtle. If she's going to answer honestly or not, she'll take the same course of action no matter how he poses the question.]
fiddles: (Cuz I'm bloody fucking nuts)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-10 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[There are only a couple of female emperors known to history. Empress, certainly. She gives a shrug.]

I dressed as a man for most of my life, that is how history remembered me.

[She takes another drink of wine. What does it matter if some Berserker knew her name? Her praetor wasn't here and their opinion of her was the only reason she hid her name to begin with.]

Nero.
cagedinflesh: (and the truth is)

[personal profile] cagedinflesh 2014-11-10 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Quit looking down on Berserkers?! They are a fine class.]

Hm. [He's surprised to hear it, but it doesn't show at all.] I would never have guessed Nero was a woman. You did well.

[Both in hiding it, and being a fine example of a tyrant.]
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-10 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[A slight shrug as she continues drinking.]

Some women might have found it annoying but I rather liked the style of dress.

[Admittedly, the Roman people wouldn't have been fond of a woman ruling them so it made it a necessity but at least she enjoyed the act.]

[personal profile] cagedinflesh 2014-11-10 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The styles were not alltogether terribly different, if historians are correct. You fooled them so easily?
cagedinflesh: (that it's all a facade)

[personal profile] cagedinflesh 2014-11-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[That sure was a simple answer. But it amuses him - he laughs.]

I suppose the people of your time were not exactly geniuses.
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
I was simply ahead for my time.

[She loved her people, even after all these years... it wasn't their fault they never did understand her.]

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't we all. And even still, in the modern age.

[Servants? Hedonist types? Well, it's both, really.]
fiddles: (Cuz I'm bloody fucking nuts)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Such is the way of things.

[Artists are always misunderstood... Hold on.]

What of you? I doubt I have to explain why my views may have chafed many.
freedomofsoul: (so I can see what you have done)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
What of me? Should it require explanation any more than yourself? I embrace the part of myself which is held in contempt by good society. I take pleasure in the obscene.
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Your name. That is all I ask.
freedomofsoul: (so I can see what you have done)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see.

[He takes a small pause, but, in the end, it's little difference. Though he's normally cautious, in this situation there's little to no point.]

Edward Hyde.
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
I see. I see... yes. That's a name I recognize. Like mine, it does explain much.

[She had faced someone claiming to be from Wonderland but who was merely a spirit of children's literature. Saber had even heard rumors that the infamous Dracula had been summoned into the War as a Lancer. She hadn't faced the man himself but she wouldn't doubt it. Mr. Hyde certainly fit well with such colorful characters.

Saber took another drink.]

Pity we aren't in Rome. You seem like a man who would have enjoyed the pleasures of the coliseum.
freedomofsoul: (do I make you uneasy)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
I would have liked nothing more than to attend such an event. Although merely watching is very rarely satisfaction enough. I made do in Whitechapel. Underground rings, you know. Lacking, however, in the grandeur of the coliseum.
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a faint smile. A memory of ordering a lion to be brought onto the streets. She had killed the beast herself.] Of course... the coliseum in Rome was instated after my rule but other amphitheaters did exist. The Amphitheatrum Neronis held many grand events. Some of which, naturally, I took part in.

[The Neronis wasn't her pride and joy but it had it's place in her heart.]
freedomofsoul: (Come a little bit closer)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. You are more inclined towards theatre and music, are you not. It's a shame. The coliseum would have flourished under such a ruler.
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-11 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[The Flavians had wanted to show that they were far more austere and less hedonistic than Nero. That was the main reason behind that stone arena--but, ah. She gives a shrug.]

There were fights in the Neronis as well. Why...I even killed a lion that was supposed to be sent to it.
freedomofsoul: (let me get a look at you)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-11 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember that story. I would not have anticipated it to be entirely based in reality.

[Which means he's impressed.]
fiddles: (Yeah I'm a real big sinner)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-12 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Some of my legend is often stretched for effect but that one was based on a true event.

[Ah... she hears the cries of victory as she strangled the beast in front of an awestruck audience. It couldn't be they were yelling in terror because their emperor had let a wild loose in the streets of Rome for the sole purpose of killing it. No, of course not.]
freedomofsoul: (Default)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-12 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[That would just be silly, of course they were in amazement.]

And others would be...?

[These are stories he will actually listen to. In fact, would be quite glad to listen.]
fiddles: (I'm talking odd socks on my toes)

[personal profile] fiddles 2014-11-13 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Obviously.]

Other parts of my legend, you mean?

[...oh where could she start.]
freedomofsoul: (Default)

[personal profile] freedomofsoul 2014-11-13 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Naturally.

[Start from the beginning! Or whatever is the most depraved. Maybe start from the most depraved.]
