Cheating and picking a location not on the list to avoid rehashing
Well, this is certainly a lot friendlier. Quieter, too. Athos, my friend, thank you.
[ Hat removed, he rests a hand over his heart dramatically, shakes his head.
He was never in any particular danger, but it was all very alarming. The Unseelie really need to work on their public image. All the creepy imagery is not particularly soothing. ]
tbh that does make the most sense. also man so sorry
Yes, it does seem to lack the more deviant flair they had provided you with initially. [ He's kind of amused, although he'd trade his own accommodations in a heartbeat. They remind him far too much of other times.
But. To Aramis. The man certainly seems a lot more comfortable now than he had at first, although that was likely to be expected. Aramis could be iron willed but he also had a skittering side to him that bore attention when it reared. Athos watched him for a couple of moments, considering. ] So beyond the lockets and the unfortunate potential gunshot victim you left behind, have you gathered any other information? [ Because it sounds - from what he has - that they are supposed to now be on different sides. Athos somehow does not think that will work. ]

I'm fine now, thank you for asking.
[ Which is how you can tell he is. ]
You have been invited to stay with the Seelie, I assume? It seems I was invited to the more... rebellious side.
[ Why ever would that be, Aramis? We just don't know. ]
It doesn't matter. We can simply tell them there's been some mistake, and purple is not my colour. Besides, there must be a way out of this place.
no subject
however, as for the rest, athos alights on one phrase in particular. ]
'Mistake'? [ dear aramis, has there been a mistake? because if so, athos does not think it was made in your own regard, but most likely in his own. he feels distinctly out of place amongst the gilt and gold of whatever home it is they've placed him in. nevermind that it is technically familiar, it is still not that which he is suited for. ]
I assume their must be. They've made a fairly egregious tactical error in allowing those from separate courts to speak freely if there isn't so much as a path between the two yet in place otherwise. [ nevermind that he just. he needs to lay proper eyes on aramis. on porthos as well, but whichever combination and however he can get them works well enough for the moment. ]
no subject
You know they couldn't stop us.
[ He lounges even more casually. It's just a fact. They couldn't. End of. ]
I did, however, meet the most marvellous lady. Madame Dasha. Very sharp. Could kill a man with a look alone.
[ Which is exactly why he likes her. A challenge. He may need help focusing right about now. ]
'their'. i think i've blinded myself. my god.
Of course not. [ Athos' manner of tone is entirely dismissive. If even just the two of them set their heads to something - pft. More often than not that's that. Easier with the three of them, and no, he can't really explain it, but. Still. He's not even going to bother trying to argue their collective efficacy against literally whatever.
Although now you're getting a faint look. It's the kind of look that both expects what you were saying and assumes you were expecting this response, which does temper it somewhat, and yet even so.
Of course you met 'the most marvellous' lady. Of course you did. Athos could only feel more nauseated if 1. he were at all surprised, and 2. he were upside down on a horse in a tornado. Not that he knows what a tornado is. (Should he? It's midnight, I'm not getting lost down that wikipedia rabbithole.)
All Athos winds up saying to that oh so surprising statement, despite his wealth of response, if not expression, is: ] Oh?
I forgive you
Exquisite taste, you should have seen her. Not a single hair out of place. Utterly in control. Eyes so aggressively green and sharp they cut straight into my heart.
[ Dramatic. You expected this. He sighs, the sigh of a faux broken-heart full of longing. ]
She's lived here for quite some time, knows a lot about the courts.
[ Oh did you think he was just admiring her from a distance out of boredom.
Please surely you expect better.
... Well, perhaps not, but. Better is a thing that is possible.]
that's so kind
Athos listens to this passively - even envisions it, to a degree, without really thinking about it, because hey what Aramis is describing does sound pretty, and it's just difficult not to listen to the man sometimes.
He is admittedly slightly suspicious when Aramis continues on about the woman in the face of Athos' own apparent disinterest-if-not-more-than-that, so Athos assumes at some point there might be a reason. He hopes, but even sometimes there just isn't one. However, there are several reasons he tends to give the man the benefit of the doubt, and most of them aren't just because it's less stress on his mind.
However just because he can appreciate Aramis' ability to befriend and locate sources within a new environment, that does't necessarily mean he feels the need to indulge quite all of the man's theatrical side. ] And that would be?
I am the kindest human
That is pretty much what happened.
Still, he shrugs a little, some of the theatrics seeming to simply slough from him like a snake skin leaving a more flat, serious expression. ]
Madame Dasha works out of Mair, which has been recently acquired by a gentleman known as Lord Dragmire. A colourful sounding place, full of brothels and gambling houses. He also owns a place further north known as Maupertius. It seems he is something of a champion of the Unseelie court, although neither location is heavily aligned with the court itself. The more neutral sounding locations are... Treun, a trading city, Daonna -- which sounds a little worse for wear and is nearer the Seelie castle -- and apparently a city full of... dwarves, largely underground. Troichean Beinn.
