[Pippin's nose wrinkles slightly. What are you trying to say here, exactly?]

Of course we're in the Shire. I was just out for a walk. Some lovely fairies - at least, I think that's what they said they were - they kindly invited me over for this feast. But I really must be getting back home. They didn't expect me to be out past suppertime. Imagine what they'll think if I don't come home tonight at all!

[Oh Pippin, little do you know...]

[Oh Pippin. Gimli takes him by the shoulder and leads the Hobbit to the nearest window so he can see outside.

It is most certainly not the Shire]

You were saying, lad?

[Logically, Pippin knows that he's never seen any structure like this one in the Shire, never mind the view outside the window. But it isn't until he puts two and two together that he really realizes the gravity of the situation.]

But. It doesn't make sense! I was just in the Shire, earlier! I... I was on my way home no less, just on the borders of Tookland.

[He turns his eyes back to Gimli, his eyes wide.] Where are we?

The Drabwurld, and I'm afraid you've been conscripted. These Faerie Queens and Kings want us to fight their war for them. There seems to be no way home without their permission or a random fluke of magic.

[tookishfool]

[No way home...]

But. [He turns to look out the window once more, then desperately back at Gimli.] They can't. I can't. We'd only just returned home. Everything had only just settled down again, I-

[Perhaps the most distressing thought of all crosses his mind.] I can't be here, not without... What about Merry?!

He will be fine in the Shire until you are able to return. I come from four years after the war and Aragorn comes from the Black Gate and Legolas? He comes from decades after either of us. There is nothing to worry about, lad, except whether or not you're going to work with these faeries or not. I've opted to ignore them for the most part and help Legolas.

[tookishfool]

Decades? [Pippin squeaks incredulously. This doesn't make sense, none of this makes sense. He raises his hands to run through his hair.]

Ohhhh. You and your stomach, Peregrin Took, you should have never followed those creatures to this feast. What were you thinking? Not that I'm not grateful for the company! [He is quick to add this, before groaning:] But we've only just gotten home!

[Gimli pats Pippin's shoulder]

Aye, I know the feeling, though at least they gave you a choice, poor as it was. I was simply taken.
