[ There's a certain familiarity here, even if the encounter is different. No shrine, no dream. Just the two of them in the real world, even if it isn't their world.

[those don't look like cultists, but you never know with the Outsider. faith appeared from the highest nobles to the sickrooms of the gutter.]

[ Funny how that works, isn't it? The Maidenfish titter, then each changes into- well, into fish, with fins and tails as long as their dresses and as gauzy as their veils. They move to swim around the Outsider, despite the fact that there's no water. ]

Yet I have been here for several months, and I am told Daud was here before that.

[months? that's a surprise, but one Corvo gives no more answer to than a growing frown and a slight raise of an eyebrow. Daud, himself...who else would be drawn into this mess? that the Outsider came (for he doesn't believe the Outsider was taken, he's more the type to go where his marked do) is easy to put into place.

each of the Maidenfish is spared another glance before Corvo looks back to the Outsider, awaiting answers he knows the god likely won't give up.]

[ The Outsider has never been all-knowing -- he has never quite been able to pull all the thoughts out of the heads of people, much less know what path they will take. He can see what the options are, what is likely and unlikely, and he knows human nature. But he is not psychic, especially not in this world where he has been cut off from the Void, lessened.

He stares back. ]

[he nods once. they will likely have the answers he seeks, how to forfeit his part in all of this because as grand as their goal is, as much as it would be simple to follow orders again, this is not the same as home. there, he risks his life because of her. here, he would risk his life for the unknown. it cannot bind him the same way.

[ There's a bit of an uncomfortable expression as he says this, as if he realizes just how much he may come to rely on Corvo should the man be stuck here. His Marked, even if he never asked for it; they are linked, whether he likes it or not. ]
