Just like how she has no idea how these fairies differ from the elves. I mean, they act and look kind of similar but not one was as obnoxious as their two. Maybe they just had bad elf luck.
Let it be known that Farnese is also not the most ecstatic about playing army again. It didn't work out last time and they have way more important things to do. She frowns as she thinks back to her introduction of this place. It had been nice to be told she was needed... But she was needed with the others too. She had finally began to accept that.]
That we have been "recruited" for. [A pause.] Should we just defect again?
[Super casually said in the middle of a party.]

Serpico, for his part, has never been ecstatic about anything; this new army recruitment included. He thinks they at least have the advantage of experience, although theirs is a little less traditional than other armies. But in all honesty, he doesn't have a preference unless turning around and going home right now counts.
The corner of his mouth twitches when she just drops the idea of defecting like that; subtlety is the other thing he was never able to impress upon her... Jesus.]
Where would we go? [That's not a no, that is proper planning.]

There are a million answers that pop into her head, like back to the boat or even find Elfheim themselves, but they all boil back down to Guts and company. And so they are back to square one. The frown deepens as she tries to figure it out.
Why can't they just wander aimlessly? It worked the last time.]
Were you able to find any hint to where we are?
[When you were a herald you learned maps, right? Figure it out now.]

Still.] Some servants were talking in one of the rooms I passed... [As usual, he stopped to creep.] They were wondering how many places new faces were going to turn up in. None of it sounded familiar, though— It looks like this really is a different world.
[A beat.]
Are we going back to traveling? Being lost is a real change of pace.

Even though she has been getting better about a lot of things it's still difficult for Farnese to stomach having no idea what to do. She was doing so well with feeling grounded with the whole witch thing. But Serpico is asking her opinion and she has to say something-!]
If others are being found in different towns traveling would allow a larger area to search.
[Right? That's quicker? Is that the right answer?]
no subject
Maybe the wind spirits are finally getting to him? He elects to leave that passing thought well and truly alone, before it has a chance to catch. They are both here, and that is enough.]
Well, I don't know if they actually are... It was only gossip. There's always the other faction's stronghold, though.
[Next on the sibling bonding adventure, "Oops, we're lost in the mountains, well we should just stay here."]

Serpico brings up an interesting point though, this whole other stronghold thing. She hadn't paid that close attention to the actual reason for the drafting after all.]
They probably won't just let us visit the other stronghold. [That sounds too easy. It's lacking at least three behemoths monsters to kill.]
Either way they are out there! We just have to find a way to check everywhere.
[Trying to be optimistic. Maybe they will get thrown into the dungeons if they wait around here long enough?]

Are we going to do things the wholesome way again? [Because being Holy Knights was very wholesome.] If we cooperate with them, they're bound to send us over there sooner or later.
[You know. For the war effort. Probably.]
no subject
This is no time for sass, Serpico. She's killed a few hundred innocent people in the name of armies before. She is Skeptical. Also how does one even function as a foot solider?]
I agree, but I'm not so sure. We hardly know anything about them.
[Jumping into fanatical things didn't work out last time. Haahaha.]
no subject
He shrugs.] We can't deliberate forever. It might be easier to learn more if we're on their side, at least on paper.
[Enough to decide whether they'll stay or go wander around the countryside, that is; he has no real interest in trying to actually deceive these people and probably put their safety on the line for it. If there's a correct plan, it's probably this one - but still, he can understand her unease.
And they are really not suited to court life, to which end he helpfully adds,] It's different from home.
[Home-home. Daddy Vandimion home. Snow metaphors home.]
