[ anywhere... sure. but there's something knotting up in korra's chest and she feels her hands flex at her hips. her head is bowed and she stares, almost in determination, at their feet as she tries to weigh the options in front of her.
last time she jumped into this, there was a whole mess of trouble and broken hearts that trailed in her wake, and she wants to make sure she's not making a mistake all over again. there's a voice inside of her that screams she wants it not to be just an "anywhere" kiss; she never wants to deny her history with mako. especially not after all they've been through here. yet she has to wonder if she goes through with this, will she just be tearing the wound open again? would she be rubbing salt into it? she already said goodbye and she meant it, but in their time here she's been reminded over and over why she crushed so hard on him in the past.

one hand rests on mako's shoulder and she pushes herself up onto her toes so that she can catch his mouth with hers, resting with almost uncharacteristic hesitation before pushing forward. ]
[ he sees it coming, this time. he even has the chance to stop her from doing something they both might regret — he's been so wrapped up in trying to respect what korra wants, and then just keeping all three of them together... is he really being honest? it didn't work. right?
he still misses it, he still doesn't stop her, he still carefully curves his hands around her waist and leans into it. so much has happened, he doesn't regret this. it's just another thing to hold onto, to believe in when things look impossible. ]

[ HOW ... WEIRD? toxic plants don't usually inspire amorous feelings, korra thought. ]
That's weird.

[ hang them from the doorway and make people kiss under them. besides, that would just make them wilt — fire lilies don't dry well. ]

[ strange traditions in a strange land... ]
Well, as the Avatar, I guess I should respect tradition, huh?
