Yes. [Also a question to answer in short-and-soft. Not only odd for a human, either - for any sort of person, any young man, any thing from the Fade, for that matter. Odd shape for one to take, no need to possess a body and wouldn't want to steal any of theirs if there was. Cassandra and Vivienne call him a demon but Cassandra is a friend, Faith, and one of the ones who fears demons the worst calls him a kid. ("Weird kid, but my kid.")]

Has anyone ever told you that you are?

[A well-meant return, just as light and thin and in the same manner that someone might ask if anyone has ever told someone that they were very tall. It's sincerely curious and not meant to imply anything, though true enough that if Cole's strange for a (supposed) human, Draco's a unique one in experiences with dragons to this point.]

[Merlin's pet owl? huh... guess that means he's not the only Fable trapped here.]

Telling him off through us kinda defeats the purpose of ignoring him, y'know.

You seem human. That's probably not food enough for you. [At least her kind have an excuse when they eat like birds. Helen is considered a big eater, and even she eats considerably less than an average human.

She grins, hopping up from her seat to grab a plate. She puts a chicken leg on it and goes to hand it to Alice, wearing a big grin as she does so.]

Start with this!
digophelia: (Just asking for some rope; it's killing)

[personal profile] digophelia 2015-01-11 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I'm human, I-

[ If ever presented with a plate of food, she never turns it down. She says nothing, she looks down at the chicken leg and back to her. Alice is assuming she's human, too, why else wouldn't she be. ]

Thank you.

[Helen likes to consider herself human, with a few added benefits. Sure, she can sense yoki, and has enhanced strength among other things, but her heart is still human. It always will be, as far as she's concerned. That's something she promised herself a long time ago. She would sooner die than become an awakened one.

Chuckling, she grabs a plate and some chicken for herself, before sitting back down. It smells pretty amazing, and it should be just enough to fill her stomach for the time being.]

You're welcome! Wouldn't want you to miss out. All the good stuff seems to be going quick!
digophelia: (All of the faces life can show)

[personal profile] digophelia 2015-01-11 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's better that it's eaten than go to waste.

[ She really doesn't have much of a choice to sit, does she? Not with this large of a chicken leg. It's a little awkward to eat at first, because she's so used to eating with a fork and a knife that the concept of food like this seems very impolite.

But that doesn't seem to be the issue with the merriment around her. Alice tries to take tentative bites, since it is a little too messy for her liking. Meat is great -- she actually likes meat! There's not this good enough chicken or beef in London, anyway. ]
merelychewed: (i pose a conundrum to you)

[personal profile] merelychewed 2015-01-11 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, well, I do not know if anyone has called me that in particular, but I have been called a great deal of things.

[ Some good, many bad, and plenty of words not fit for polite company, of which Draco could easily source to his closest and last friend, Bowen. Now that man, that man could curse. It had all been very unknightly of him. ]

I imagine the closest is being called unexpected.
sweetestsmile: (He's a good kid.)

[Ronin shrugged and carefully cleaned off his sword before sheathing it. Then he leaped in a single bound to the nearby candelabra, which put him in a little easier view for talking.]

With those other Jinn around, I would have thought people would be expecting those my size.

[He gestured at the fairies before taking a bite of his bit of apple. The food was tasty, if nothing else.]

No harm was actually done, though.

[Pod can't help the giggle as Amaterasu licks her ear, and makes sure to keep up the petting and scritching of them both.]

You must have friends you miss too, someone so beautiful and clever as you. I wonder if the other wolves here would welcome you; they seem nice enough!

[Kiga grumbles again, but also tips his head to allow it. He's grumpy that Pod's attention isn't all on him, but at the same time, he enjoys the attention from Amaterasu.]
bythewaves: (prince)

[ Maglor makes no move towards his father either, tense and wound as he watches him, too many emotions chasing themselves through his eyes although his face stays still and blankly calm. When he finally speaks his voice is carefully flat and controlled, betraying nothing (and yet, betraying everything) ]

You came back.

[ why now, where were you, I miss you, I hate you, do you forgive me? ]
bythewaves: (as a father to you)

he does, and it is the most *trashy* of sitcoms

[personal profile] bythewaves 2015-01-11 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ He does not, of course, get up in time, surprised by her enthusiasm, and he is bowled over with a small 'oof', winding up with wolf goddess in his lap. But her obvious joy to see him nets a shy, grateful smile, and when she mouths at his fingers he even manages a soft laugh, obediently moving to pet and scratch at her ears. There is a small varren pub who stirs from his nest in the cushions and comes over to see who is here with his new owner, tumbling down off the sofa with a surprised squeak. ]

I missed you too, Bright Lady. [ Maglor admits shyly and turns his head at the squeak ]

[The troll shrugs.] I think I am allowed the occasional moment of self-assuredeness, given that I am currently trapped with strangers on some sort of planetwide FLARP game.

[She hesitates for a moment, uncertain really how much personal information she should really be giving out. But names hardly matter, right?]

Rose and Dave are the two humans. Karkat and Terezi are the trolls. Oh, and the Mayor. You would know him if you saw him he's something of a large, all black humanoid bug-person wrapped in post-apocalyptic shroudwear.

In a manner of speaking. Possibly to catch people off guard by being nice. They're faeries, you see. Do you have stories about them where you're from?

[Merida's been hunting the same boar, from an entirely different angle to Lagertha that she didn't even see the other woman. Not quite as skilled at hunting boar as she is deer and rabbit, she keeps her distance, knowing well what the likelihood of being gored if the animal senses her is. Her bow is drawn, arrow notched in the string. Her foot steps onto the tree root in front of her, pulling the bowstring back to her cheek.

Unfortunately for her, she steps wrong and slips, the wood cracking underneath her as she lets out a yell. Down she tumbles through the snow, shock of red hair bright against the white background as she comes to a land at the foot of the slope in the meadow. In the meantime her arrow took off with her accident, landing in the bark of a tree near Lagertha as Merida sits up, recovering from her fall with a hand to her head.]

Och, that dúr...I almost had it!

[She sounds young, brogue thick as she leaned back on her bow hand, rubbing at her skull.]

[Cesare is sure that the library is delightful, a fascinating wealth of knowledge, but he has no interest in it. He is far more intrigued by the information that others have and what they think to be the most important. Besides, if Effy is aware of there being answers in the library, that likely means that she knows what those answers are too. In this instance at least, he doesn't think she's "most people".

He pushes a hand to her hip, slowly moving her so that he can lean on the wall, arm resting calmly above her head as he looks down at her. He's not flirting with her, not deliberately, but he is a man of powerful body language and intimidating leans. It's difficult for him not to use them now.]

And what of you? What of your answers?
leloup: (pic#8688771)

If it gets you through the day, go for it. Plenty of worse things to be, Florping notwithstanding. [wait, shit, that's not it.] ...Florking? Flarting? Whatever.

Now, when you say bug-person, are we talking actual, literal bug who's vaguely human-shaped, or is this another thing that's being lost in alien translation? Y'know, just to set the record straight?

It was exploration, mostly, that brought her here - the open world around her there to be razed, one way or another. The drinking could be argued as exploration as well, but in truth it was just as much bitterness, exasperation, the weight of guilty evasion. She was going to have to face certain powers here eventually - sooner, rather than later. For now, she staunchly refused to think about it. Conversation proved a welcome distraction.

"Probably weaker than that, too," it came with a chuckle, as Nabooru leaned heavily on the bar, gold clinking. She took a swig from her cup, then set it down, shoulders rolling into a shrug. "Though, I bet they'll leave that off the sign."

"True. But good business sense," Varric replied wryly appreciative of the ploy. He gave the stranger a look over, but clearly did not recognize her as anyone from home or even this world. "Varric Tethras. You'd have heard of me if we weren't here."

Not yet. But I doubt the answers will just fall into my lap. Figuring it out is bound to come with a few risks.

[And that's one of the very few perks of having nothing left to lose. Jack pops another grape into his mouth, follows it with another gulp of wine.]

Anyway, if you were concerned about the grapes, don't be. They're fine.

[Mirth sparkles in her eyes at what he has to say, and she steps in a small circle before him, tossing her head lightly. Come now, isn't having a conversation over pork and cake one of the best ways to make a new friend? She groans chattily at him, front paws prancing in place, almost as if she's trying to talk him into it.

Don't be stingy. You've got thumbs, pal.]

[Oh, the other wolves. Yes. What's it like to live in a pack, she wonders. Well, then again, she supposes she has her own pack... Or did, as unusual as they were for a wolf to be guiding. Wolves are children she rarely finds herself fretting over, if only because they seem to be so sufficient and family-oriented on their own. As a wolf herself she's also both of these things, and she finds grooming Pod's wolverine to feel as natural as anything, second-nature in fact.

When she finishes, she gives a rather hefty sigh, and then sinks upon the soil to lie next to the girl. If it's all right by them, she'll keep them company until they're ready to venture onward.]
illuminating: (pic#7811240)

that's amazing...

[personal profile] illuminating 2015-01-11 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fingers find ears, and she groans and fidgets restlessly, appreciatively. They end up flicking forward at the squeak and the plop of varren pup hitting the floor and she moves to stand next to Maglor, watching the tiny creature at his side.

Even from this distance, she can easily pick up the scent of Javik's varren on it. Friend of yours?, she asks him, tilting her face, resisting a rapidly mounting urge to trot over and check for a new bruise.]

[likewise, Bigby's crossing his arms and giving her the hairy eyeball. not very refined, but give him a break; people usually wait a little longer until they're thoroughly buttered him up before trying to con him out of something.]

Yeah, I get it. A gentleman always pays.

[and he's no gentleman; not most of the time, at least. he can feel his brow creasing as he weighs his options (ha, what options?), his eyes not-too-subtly wandering in the direction of a nearby food cart brimming with the easily identifiable smell of pork. it's a nice, salty smell that he hasn't inhaled in a long time. those crummy hot dogs they sell on the street back in New York are cardboard compared to the real deal.

finally and grudgingly, he breaks eye contact and starts heading in the direction of the cart. fuck it. he returns three minutes later with two pork skewers, one of which he offers her, and significantly less coinage than the amount he set out with.]

You're out of luck if you're in the mood for steak. They were sold out.

As do I.

[Though he may not know her, Arno does still hope she finds what she's looking for. And even if she does not, perhaps find some peace in the journey that she does take towards it. For him, this is not home, and while he knows he remains no closer to his task of seeking redemption, he will not idly wallow away when there are others he can help and keep his mind and self active.

To hear Lavellan laugh is welcoming, however small it is. When stuck in war both at home, and now in the Draubworld, even the small things seem to add a little color where everything insists on being so black and white. Arno looks back to his horse, the colt flicking its ears in amusement, before his grin widens again.]

I'd certainly hope he'd like me. I'd be a rather awful rider to choose a horse that wants to throw me at every possible turn, wouldn't I?

[The asking about home causes him to pause, blinking a little before realizing what she's asking. He's still not used to this whole "worlds" thing.]

Earth. The country I come from is called France. Have you heard of it?
cockade: (Prévenant)

[personal profile] cockade 2015-01-11 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The situation back home is dire for both of them, but Arno keeps his mouth shut as he really would rather not argue with her over what should or shouldn't be clarified.]

I know. I doubt that will make the monarchs change their minds. We're going to have to find another way out.
