(Howard had had the locket open on a desk where he had piled a large stack of books. He was trying to read up on this place, the war, any information he could get his hands on. He had kept the locket with him and open ever since he had figured out that it was, in some ways, a window to the world. He'd catch onto fascinating snippets of conversation here and there, and it was wonderful.
Most of the time it's normal conversation, sometimes he feels like he's eavesdropping, and then there are times like this where he jumps a little when it comes to life.
