I haven't. ( Hadn't - wasn't planning to ) If you don't know what's in it why are you trying it? It might not be as kind an offering as how it's supposed to look.
( Why wouldn't a kidnapper poison them. Or maybe the fact that it was from another 'world' could mean it wasn't compatible with their bodies. Or it just wasn't real. Maybe he wasn't real - maybe she wasn't here. She could hope )

Way I see it, they've already got me in the bad guy's secret lair. If I'm gonna die in a freaky magic experiment, I'munna eat as much of their shit as I can before I go.
[ yeah, that'll learn 'em to lure away unsuspecting civilians with their cute little wings and yeah okay this is probably his fault. fever dream, maybe, or steve managed to pull a hangover two on him. ]

( It certainly wasn't all that much of a comfort to Claire but she could see how some people might think that. If you were going to die why not enjoy yourself first? Or why bother. You would know after regardless )
I'm not sure that I believe what they said to me.
( And, if Claire's assumption is right, he doesn't either. Or he finds it hard to believe )

Honestly, I don't know what I want to believe.
[ because that's what it boils down to, really, what he wants to put his faith in. a man can believe a lot of things without any of it being true. but - ]
Whole set up seems a little too elaborate for a lie, though, doesn't it?

The best lies are usually pretty elaborate.
( That was how people believed them - detail. The right amount, and something that made them think they couldn't question it. People could believe anything, if they were stupid enough to. She didn't want to believe it - it would change everything she knew if it were true )
