Harry almost says something to the effect of 'not here it won't', but he catches himself in time. Arrival in a strange fairy land is odd enough without having to come to terms with a greatly extended lifespan.

"Aren't they? At least the hallways here tend to behave and don't reshuffle themselves in the middle of the night." Well, not too often, anyway. "If you'd like, I can help you get to wherever you'd care to go or give you the two penny tour?"

"Does that often happen in...places you're familiar with?" she inquired, careful not to let her smile slip as she said it, and feeling a pit open up in her stomach.

"If you'd give me the tour, we can walk and talk."

"It can. It's a bit like those ink drawings? With the walls on the floor? Do you know what I mean?" Perhaps Escher is known throughout the multiverse? Perhaps not. Better he reference that than 'Labyrinth'. (Although, come to think of it, if anything would be a universal constant, it would be Bowie in tight pants.)

"In any case, I'm Harry, formerly from Britain. What sort of things do you want to see? There's all the usual places - library, kitchens, halls, courtyards, and the like."
thedominatrix: (I missed Downton!)

"With—no?" A beat, and then, sounding rather alarmed, "Oh, God, maybe yes, actually..."

But she'd rather not think about that, so she just draws herself up and considers the question. "All the usual places," she decides, "I'm sure I'll come to easily enough. What are the areas they don't usually show to the fresh meat?"

"He did one holding a mirrorball up to his face. Never could quite figure out how he did it."

Shaking off the thought of warped self portraits, Harry considers her request and comes up with a list of options. "The bailey, the wardrobe, or the library. You've your choice of a garden that's a bit too cold for my liking, to meet the kind folk that'll outfit you in whatever you like, or, well, a library. It pretty much does what it says on the tin."
