Not today, at least. They do hold audiences now and again and you may yet find other opportunities if you are persistent and bold enough to do so. But they do not make a habit of attending these 'welcome' feasts.

[There's a wry little undertone to the way she says 'welcome.' Galadriel, for one, is not sure if it's the right word to use. Has anyone been made to truly feel welcome here? Or do they just make do? She pauses to sop from the wineglass in her hand before continuing.]

One ought to say a few words of greeting, at least, if one expects others to spill their blood on one's behalf. Do you not agree?

[ Oh, an elf.

...A very tall and beautiful elf. She shines almost, ethereal, and Nasrin has a feeling in her chest that says she is in the presence of someone important. Perhaps this is a trick; perhaps this is the queen and she has disturbed her with questions, seemed rude. But she stands behind her concern and what she has said, and so she nods. ]

I would expect someone to be visible and forward with their intentions, especially if they are hoping to recruit soldiers for their war. I understand that monarchies have their games but they should still see the people they have willingly and unwillingly conscripted.

[ Her smile is grim. ]

But perhaps I am being presumptuous.

sob and now I notice all my typos

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2015-01-05 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Galadriel shakes her head] No, you are not presumptuous. Those who would lead have a responsibility to those who follow them; it is something no ruler ought forget.

[Her eyes sweep over the other elf, assessing her. It's a sharp gaze, keen but not unkind. Whatever she sees seems to please her enough to merit a weary smile of her own.]

But you must allow me to introduce myself. I am Galadriel, Lady of Lórien. [She inclines her head slightly.] Shall I offer you my welcome or my consolation?

shhhh I didn't notice them

And yet our new monarchs have discarded that idea so easily.

[ For her part, Nasrin dips herself, arms out, a much more venerable act of respect than she has given in many, many months to anyone. Being the Inquisitor has given her rank and power; still, she remembers how she addresses elders of her clan. ]

Either would earn my gratitude, Lady Galadriel. I am called Nasrin Lavellan.

[ She straightens and clears her throat. ]

Forgive my question but...you are an elf, are you not?
inafadingcrown: (Even the smallest person)

Oh good. Then there were no typos. None at all. Carry on

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2015-01-06 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
I am. [Once Galadriel might have thought that obvious beyond questioning, but here many things have changed.] And there is naught to forgive; had you not taken the lead, I might have posed you the same question. You do not hail from Arda, I assume?

I AM AVOIDING SPOILERS FOR YOU OKOK

[personal profile] arla 2015-01-07 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I have never heard of Arda, I'm afraid. My world is called Thedas, and I have no home.

[ It is not simply that the Dalish are nomads and wanderers, fleeing from the Chantry and the Templars, but her clan has holed itself up in Wycome-- And she has changed too much too quickly, has spent so much time as the leader of a human organization, that she wonders if she will be welcomed when her task is finished. ]

You are...unlike any elf I have ever seen.

[ Though there was one-- Hm. ]

I-- Forgive me. I meant no disrespect with my comment, Lady Galadriel. I simply mean that...there is something about you, as if you hold something timeless within you.

[ Like a spirit or a piece of the Fade. ]
inafadingcrown: (soft as moonlight)

HOPEFULLY IT WILL NOT BE NECESSARY FOR MUCH LONGER

[personal profile] inafadingcrown 2015-01-07 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[A smile plays about her lips, like a teacher watching a clever student puzzle something out.]

'Timeless' is an apt descriptor. The elves of Arda, my people, do not age in the manner of Men. I am a product of a time before the race of Men, before the sun and moon. Perhaps that is what you sense.
