Kidnapped? What do you mean kidnapped? Didn't they just ask you?

[Blinking with a bit of curiosity, she turns away from her food to give him her full attention. Habit, really. When meeting new people, she always enjoys hearing what they have to say.]

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
If you believe their story, they asked me very politely. In my dream. While I was asleep.

A dream ... [She pauses, thinking further on the concept. As if a lightbulb goes off in her head, her eyes widen with a confirming nod.]

Y'know, I think it was kind of like a dream! Maybe. Then again — [She shrugs with a chuckle.] A lot of what I deal with back home is pretty much all out of a dream.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
... oh? My life before this was awfully normal. Was yours... maybe not?
contrasting: (☾ ₃₀ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, not really. At least not at night. But it's a really long story. Kind of stuff we don't really talk about with normal people. [She's never really sure if there's a rule on it, but they just really ... don't.]

Mainly, it's just things we deal with so you don't have to. Thing seem pretty normal here though! Even if the castle thing's all kind of out of some book or something.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I see... [That's awfully vague.] Well, I won't pry. But it seems like people who are totally, thoroughly normal and non-superpowered like me are in the minority.

I can't imagine your frame of reference if you call this place "pretty normal".
contrasting: (☾ ₂₇ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
[She never tells people back home. That was really the point. For them to really worry about their own lives rather than the dire circumstances in the background — that was her job after all. Protecting them from it.

But since this place seems like it has some sort of connection with some "fight", she figures it might not all be that simple anymore.]

There's fighting back home too, just ... well, maybe not like this. It's not a big war. But who knows, I thought I was normal before too — before I learned I had the potential. Who knows? Maybe you have it too and that's why you're here.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
God, I hope not. No offense. I want to live my live out in relative obscurity, thank you. Best case scenario is that I'm here because I'm easily bullied.
contrasting: (☾ ₁₉ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Easily bullied? Oh, come on! [There's not much hesitation as she playfully gives a light punch to his arm.] You look like you could handle yourself pretty well.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[She's definitely the friendly type.] I didn't think I was, but I haven't gotten the faeries to send me back yet so I must be doing something wrong.

Still, I really do hope it's not because I'm a budding adventure hero. That is... not what I want.

... unless my superpower is really low-key.
contrasting: (☾ ₁₂ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Still convinced that most people's powers are probably persona-related, she considers the gun method of summoning and chuckles nervously at low-key.]

It can't be that bad. Besides, you don't have to step up with a cape to do something. Although that still sounds pretty cool. But there's a lot of background heroes, too.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, then I will be a background hero. The rear rear line. Holding down the fort by... staying at home in the fort.
contrasting: (☾ ₂₃ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I actually know a guy that's kind of like you. [She giggles, mostly to herself as she thinks of a certain broody character type. A sad smile is brief afterwards, but she fixes it quickly with a wide grin.]

He never wanted to fight, kept saying it wasn't for him. Always liked to hang back and stay out of the spotlight. [She realizes she's going into past tense and corrects herself.] He's quiet like you. But you know, he still really cares about helping people.

[She gives her new friend a poke on the chest.] Is that what you are? Secret hero who frowns a lot but he's a big ol' sap inside?

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
[He'd been told by his sister that physical contact from a girl like this is flirting, but he's not so sure? She gives off such an enthusiastic vibe that he can see her doing this to everyone she meets.] I dunno about the hero part. Or the sap part. ... maybe? I honestly don't know.

I can definitely imagine you as the not-so-secret hero type, though.
contrasting: (☾ ₂₄ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[If it's flirting, Minako doesn't see it that way, since she has a habit of finding new friends too easily, whether it's reciprocated or not. Even with the more reserved types like this, she certainly doesn't hold back.]

Ha, funny you should say that, considering ... [Well, a lot of her "hero stuff" is very secret.] You might be right though, I guess. My friends always kind of appoint me as the leader a lot for some reason. The reason's a mystery even to me though.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I think I can see why. [He's often been told people prefer bold leaders, after all.]

... Anyways, I don't think I introduced myself. I'm Oreki. Uh, Houtarou Oreki. You can call me either one, I don't mind.
contrasting: (☾ ₀₉ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh. Oh! Quickly, she gasps in response, going into a giggle afterwards.]

Whoa, I forgot about that too! Just got sorta hyped about this new place and new people. Kind of a whole new world here, it gets your head all over the place. [BUT ANYWAY.] Arisato Minako! Go for Minako, definitely. Pleased to meet you, Oreki.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Nice to meet you, too. A-- uh, Minako. [Calls other people by their last name, but tells them to use her first name, huh?]

There... certainly is a whole new world here. I'm not sure how to take it all in, to be honest. [Though his poker face is getting a good workout.]
contrasting: (☾ ₁₀ ☽)

[personal profile] contrasting 2015-01-05 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
[She goes for the cute. And Oreki just has such a fun, adorable sounding ring to it.]

Mm, me neither, really. Well, I've been in some creepy, weird places before but not huge worlds like this with castles and royalty and feasts or whatever. I mean, you kinda read this stuff in the books, you know? Definitely not like Japan at all, for sure.

[personal profile] conservationist 2015-01-05 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Creepy, weird places comparable to this, just smaller? That more stuff you'd rather not talk about? It sounds like you lived a really interesting life.

It isn't like Japan, but there are a pretty surprising number of Japanese people here in the newcomer crowd. I'm not sure what to make of it.
