[It's a feast that would please even her family. Striding into the room she's directed to, the girl that enters looks like she was already well on her way to a formal event. She only pauses a moment to study the lay of the room, then plucks a cup from the nearest table and moves out to mingle, wings, hair and dress all trailing behind her as she takes sure steps toward the nearest person.

Time to start making an impression!]

( locket )

...works kind of like the MirrorNet then, huh?

[Blue-green eyes blink in amusement, and then the mirror is pulled back to show a pretty, pink-haired girl, her voluminous hair pushed over one shoulder. She looks like a glam-pop cherub stereotype, especially given the wings bobbing slightly behind her, and she waves with a smile that has to have been practiced.]

Hey! Don't mind me you guys, I'm just giving this thing a whirl! Though I guess while I'm here- if anyone has a problem they need to talk about with an impartial party, feel free to look me up! My name is Cupid, and I give great advice!

By any chance, do you know a young lady named Flora?

[It's the wings that catch his attention, really. Even with the wide variety of people that this place brings in, very few of them have wings. He thinks of Flora immediately because of the wings and the fact that this girl seems to be about the same age as Flora. Not that looks mean much when it comes to the Fae.

After asking his question, the dark-haired man in green armor bows politely to her, gold cloak sliding smoothly over his shoulders.]

Question aside, welcome to Caer Glaem. I hope your arrival has not been too stressful.

I've known a few, in my lifetime- I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific...

[Turning to face the speaker, she trails off, looking up at him, momentarily awestruck. It takes a moment of silent staring before a slight frown creases the skin between her eyebrows, eyes flashing pink as they focus on his face more closely and she mutters aloud-]

...a spell? No- a curse.

[Blinking her eyes back to normal, she gives her head the faintest of shakes, as if shaking something loose, and then smiles curiously at him.]

That's a nasty one I've only ever heard of once before. What... what's your name?

The one I know is a nature fairy. I think she may be about your age, with light brown hair and green eyes. She...

[Diarmuid's voice trails off in the middle of his description when she mentions his curse and then asks his name. Unconsciously, he reaches up to brush a finger over the mole under his eye.]

You...can feel it?

[But her question... Diarmuid has been keeping his true identity mostly a secret, until recently when he has started being a little more open with it. After all, if he expects people to trust him, he must do the same in return.]

My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne...if that means anything to you.

Not any Flora I know, then.

[Between his incredulity and then his name, Cupid is already working in overdrive, considering the possibilities of why she wouldn't. His name confirms her suspicions though, and she brightens a bit, before her smile fades into a sympathetic one.]

...I thought that might be it. I mean, of course the odds were a little slim, considering the year where I'm from, but I don't much think that applies here, huh?

[Barreling forward before he can even answer, she laces the very tips of her fingers together, bringing her hands up in front of her chin and tipping her head forward to look up at him from beneath her lashes, pensive.]

Love spells don't work on my family very well unless they're our own, so you don't need to worry about it and... I mean I'm not a hundred percent but I can see about doing something about that for you, if you'd like? Ah- but manners, duh!

[Sweeping low into a curtsy, wings spreading a bit further, she bounces back up after a moment and holds her hand out, smile once again beauty queen bright.]

Chariclo Arganthone Cupid, Goddess of Love- but just Cupid will do! It's a pleasure, Diarmuid.

[For a moment, Diarmuid looks a little disappointed, but then he nods.]

It's all right. I know meeting someone from her world isn't very likely, but she is my friend and if you were hers, I would have been remiss if I didn't help you get in contact with her.

[He begins to politely bow his head when she gives her name, but freezes mid-bow and looks back up when she gives her title.]

You are a goddess of love? Do you happen to know of my father, Aengus Og?

[Her name is not one he recognizes, but that doesn't really mean anything. Different areas have different gods and some gods even have different names depending on area.

When she mentions helping him with his curse, his hand again drifts to his mole.]

My father tried very hard to remove the curse, but he could not. In the end, we decided I must be Fated to have it. Otherwise, why would a god of love not be able to remove a love spell? I have thought of trying again occasionally, but...

[Diarmuid has lived with it so long and at the moment, he doesn't know if he feels right asking the High-King and High-Queen about something like this. Another shardbearer, though?]

There is a lot going on currently, but perhaps we can talk about trying to do something sometime...

I understand completely- it's very sweet of you to look out for her like that, really.

[At the mention of his father, she brings a hand to her lips, looking faintly startled, but also pleased.]

Oh! You're his, that's right- I'd forgotten! Goodness, I know him a bit, of course. Terribly sweet, far more pleasant than most love gods I've met.

[Though she could hardly blame some of them. Say what you will, but love was a frustrating business to be in sometimes.]

Mmm, well- I've never been one much for thinking that fate only has one way of turning out. If there's something I can do, then I'll do my best! I... might have to do a little research first though.

[She hoped she'd be able to get into her books via her mirror at the very least, if not then it's trial and error. She smiles at him, sweet and encouraging, and reaches to clasp his hand, giving it a squeeze.]

Don't worry! We'll try, okay? I don't give up easy, so you shouldn't either!
oathshackledbird: Daddy (Daddy)

[personal profile] oathshackledbird 2015-01-07 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
She has always had my back. It is the least I can do for her.

[When Cupid describes his father like that, Diarmuid can't help but laugh.]

Yes, he was always a little...different from others, but I would never have wanted him to change. I...

[He laughs, suddenly looking embarrassed.]

...miss him a lot sometimes. Especially, here since this place is so much like home. He's the reason I believe so much of what I do. Though, some of that is rather confusing. For example, I do believe some things are Fated...

[His curse, his death, things like that.]

...however, there are other things that are not. Those things we can accomplish as long as we never give up on them. In fact, he always taught me never to give up. It's...an odd combination of beliefs, I know...

[He returns the squeeze of his hand.]

Thank you.
