Then you have no need for reply, as you already know he who rules over all.

[Gilgamesh is boastful, Waver. He's not stupid. Usually. Although...]

So they tell me, yes. Though beyond their silly traditions that amount to less than dirt beneath my feet, I know naught else.

[...that might have qualified, considering he still hasn't given this whole allegiance business much thought.]
gordianknots: I will not sing along (But the smell of leather is intoxicating)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
And you know where my duties will always lie. Have lied. It's been twenty years for me.

[An explanation for any oddness, as well as the hair. A second thought drifts into Waver's head though, beyond himself - Rin needs to find out. Soon. And it needs to be through himself, rather than the network. ]

I have been here for nine months, and I strive to provide information to those who require it. Ask of me what you will.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Mm. A fair point, and Gilgamesh acknowledges it with a slight nod, about as much magnanimity as Waver can expect from his former enemy. Perhaps current. This too is difficult to say with one as flighty as the King of Kings.

As for questions, only one comes to mind.]

Why have you not left, to continue serving your liege proper? You do him disservice.
gordianknots: So fix your sad eye on someone worthier (Don't know bout us but I know bout them)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
There are no routes home at present, in spite of centuries of people searching all corners of this map. [His lips thin, it's still a painful truth to say.] Such searching continues.

[And while Waver has leads, he's been told by trusted sources the results. There are other paths to go down.]

I serve in spirit and lead by example.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
[A painful truth to say, but a worthwhile tidbit to know. Gilgamesh has no doubts he can leave whenever he wishes, though it's notable that even a mage of some talent has struggled. Still a mongrel, yet still braver than most.

He also cannot find it within himself to take fault with Waver's reply. For the moment, at least, it seems that the mage has satisfied the Spirit. That mountainous ego shrinks just a little.]

And what of the others? Lancer, Archer, Rider... Saber? [Excited emphasis very much intentional.] I sense magic, both familiar and not. Is it theirs?
gordianknots: Sing your society song - it never changes (We all love the Smiths and dig the Clash)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Saber will not be mentioned. There are too many plans involving Saber right now with regards to the war, and to bring up the tensions Waver remembers from the night of drinking in the Einzbern Castle will add too much to an already delicate situation.

But he can't bullshit too hard.]

There's a few servants here, some from our war - Rider - and others from the Fifth War. That comes ten years after our own, by some stupid accident of the system. As for the other magic you're picking up on, that's the nature of this place. It's more like True Magic, omnipresent and accessible to all that decide to learn.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[A strange mixing of timelines all over the place, it seemed. Not for Gilgamesh to comment on right now, but something worth mulling over. Hopping realms has changed him little and any challenges pose less of a threat than ever, yet his fellow Spirits and their Masters are players in the game nonetheless. Pieces to consider before making moves.

First things first, however.]

I call no truces with you. I will act as I please, as no realm exists beyond my grasp and no cage will hold me, if any would be foolish enough to make the attempt. Assure yourself of that much.

[That being said... he is still an agent of the law. Kind of. Sort of.]

But I concede you've knowledge of this place I lack. Continue to provide it, and we shall see about your future prospects.

[For survival, that is.]
gordianknots: How could you get it so wrong? (We're all brilliant minds)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I could hardly expect you to act otherwise. Especially knowing who you are. If you find a way out that no other has, then simply consider me jealous.

[Gilgamesh can't come into the Barrel, that much Waver will put into law. he cannot be there, because Rin will lose it, and Rin's far more important than the healthy fear and respect he will always maintain for Gilgamesh.]

Something you'll need to know: the monarchs here do remove powers upon arrival. I'm loathe to share this with you but you might want to check on your access to your Noble Phantasms. If they aren't present, the monarchs expect you to do favours for them for such returns.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Keep secrets and I'll kill you, mongrel.

[Less mindreading and more an uncannily precise guess of what Waver's cooking up in that overly gifted brain of his. But in either case, Gilgamesh lets the matter go. No use would come of prodding him here, and as always, Gilgamesh's overly inflated ego assures him he has nothing to fear, even without his Noble Phantasm.

No sooner does he brush past the topic does he move onto one arguably worse.]

Are the women of this Court all so disappointing in bed? The few I've taken seemed... lacking.

[ABORT MISSION.]
gordianknots: The company you keep (You'll never miss)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Waver wonders how well Gilgamesh will take to the fact that the whole place runs on secrets - starting with the monarchs and trickling on down. He's about to say something to that effect when--

--well, give him a minute to formulate an answer.]

I couldn't tell you. I don't reside in either court.

[personal profile] babbylon 2015-01-05 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
So you're dipping your hands into both streams, then?

[Gilgamesh seems to have largely missed the point of this courtless revelation. Or else he's just amusing himself by way of flustering his poor informant-to-be, sneering like a cat that's grown far too big for its own fur.

Alas, in any age, it is never a good time to be Waver Velvet.]

I'll consider this strategy. You are to be commended for your cleverness.
gordianknots: But my inner Cinderella calls (Your hypothesis have been confirmed)

[personal profile] gordianknots 2015-01-05 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[It is, however, a sign that some things never change, as he is absolutely scarlet red. Rider's cloak pales in comparison.]

Not exactly what I was referring to but--

[Oh fuck it this isn't worth fighting.]
