[No blood rituals, if you please.

Vivienne has somehow, in the scant few hours she has been here, managed to cow an imp into washing, dressing and behaving more properly, and the poor thing precedes her march to the table carrying her food and drink.

Please, like she can be expected to handle her own food before the eating of it? When it is set down at the table for her, she waves the creature away and settles Dorian with a Look. She would die before admitting it, but it is a comfort to see the other mage here after the day she's had. Certainly better him than the apostate, the demon, the unwashed Grey Warden or dear Sera. If one must be stranded with a terrible pariah, at least the tevinter dresses well and cleans himself and can hold an intelligible conversation for more than half a minute.]

My dear, that is because no one would poison something so gauche as ham in Orlais. Wines, soups and deserts. One must be able to disguise the scent and the sight of it for at least two courses. [Orlesian light deserts: the real ominous foodstuffs.]

[ Madame de Fer has always made for riveting conversation, that much is true. And her understanding and maneuvering of the Game is about as close to Minrathous as he can get. Of course, Dorian's sure she would freeze him in place if she knew he likened her to any in the Magisterium, but they're not all bad. On the outside, anyway. And isn't that how it always goes?

He's almost not surprised to hear Vivienne make herself known. Any ball with this much power involved should practically summon her. Her trained imp, now that is a surprise. Reminds him of the way Vivienne got Bull to say his please and thank yous. On second thought, maybe that isn't such a surprise.
]

Ah, but of course. [ He smiles, as warmly as one can when surrounded by strangers. ] Start the meal right with an appetizer before you're dead by dessert. I've had Orlesian dessert before, it's fitting. There are certainly worse ways to die.
