hey jesus meet grumpy jesus??? | feast
he's not paying attention when jesus bumps into him and what happens next has him stumble back, patting his shirt, eyes darting from where the stain had been to jesus, to the stain, then to jesus.
the most ben can get from him is that he seems kind, familiar. there's something about him...]
How'd you do that?
yes good
his smile softens a little at the question, wiggling the fingers not wrapped around his glass. ]
I just kind of miracled it away, I guess you'd say. It was just a little one, though.
no subject
It ain't magic?
[it doesn't matter how small of a glimpse he gets of an ability, not to him. if this were his first time here, he'd probably be much more alarmed, but by now- there are worse things that could've been done. magic kind of ...interests him, now. more than he'd like to admit.]
no subject
[ he chews his lip thoughtfully, head tilting faintly. how.. to say this.. ] Um. Haven't you done this sort of thing, yourself? I mean, you're a little bit like me. [ he shifts to tuck his empty glass under his arm, tapping fingertips against the center of his chest. ] Here, I mean. Your soul.
no subject
The hell are you talkin' about?
[it comes out more agitated than he means it to, but confusion never settles well with him.]
no subject
[ he offers another smile, small and warm and loving, as if he's always known ben. ] It's-- You haven't really had a lot of answers about it, have you? [ that seems obvious. it had been really scary for jesus at first, too. especially once he'd realized just what would happen to him in the future. ]
no subject
is this guy like management?]
I know what I am. You- [he runs a hand over his face, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as he struggles with himself to even say the word. with a vague motion toward the other man, he finally forces the word from his lips,] you an Avatar?
[that's what he's called, what his father hammered into his mind. sure, ben has a lot of issues, and he knows what he is, but finding someone who's like him, in a place like this? the chances were slim, at best, even impossible, and his mind is already racing with the mere possibilities of being able to learn more.]
no subject
Umm.. not.. exactly. Not in the way you're thinking of it, I think. There's only ever me where I'm from, though other religions have other deities. But Father's kind of the overall.. boss..
[ a small sigh. ] I'm not explaining this very well. Listen, have you ever heard of Christianity?
ugly laughter into the distance
the amount of confusion and awe that mixes in ben's features is profound. his mouth is hanging open, brow furrowed so intensely it's as though it's frozen in place.]
No- no way. [he doesn't know how to react. he's putting two and two together and the amount of steps it takes for him to wrap the small bits and pieces of information around his head is too many steps. he throws his hands into the air, reaching behind him -- and thank god (ha ha) there's a table and a seat, because he plops himself right down.]
Jesus Christ.
[his head dips into the palms of his hands, elbows resting on his knees. he's sinned too many times, and come to terms with those sins, but this is way too overwhelming.]
throws self into the void
[ he hesitates for only a moment or two before pushing a chair close to ben and then sinking down into it, reaching over to pat his knee briefly (and yep, there's definitely a big ugly scar on the back of that hand). he knows now, of course, because he can't help but know-- not when ben is this distressed. ]
It's okay, just take a few breaths. I'm not actually nearly as scary as some people like to paint me, and I'm not here to judge you.
i came here to have a good time and im honestly feeling so attacked right now
he catches sight of the scar as jesus speaks, forcing himself not to shy from his touch. but what about murder, he wants to ask, and he suddenly has so many questions flooding him that he has to hold back.
where does he even start.
maybe with something easy. he sits up, hands intertwining in his lap.]
You asked- [he has never struggled so hard with words in his life,] you asked if I could do things like you, takin' wine outta clothes. [he shakes his head,] It don't work like that for me.
headshaking intensifies
his head tilts slightly as he listens, expression curious and interested. for a few moments, he's silent, expression soft and thoughtful, before he unlaces his hands again and offers them out, palms up. ]
Um.. here. Will you show me? [ he prefers to keep his.. pseudo godliness under wraps most of the time, but it's sort of pointless here. especially now, when ben is obviously lost and hurt and confused. ] I think.. it'll be easier for you if you just let me see your world. And you.
