[ It is apparently Elrond's lot to be partially oblivious, so many concerns clamoring for his attention. Trying to sort out which side of the war has done what, the general reaction to events, both as they crop up and the lingering memories and stories that circulate long after, all of it is important to gather. Knowing where things stand is paramount to finding a point of compromise. Or an end.

So when he turns to look at whoever is making a stir, it takes him a full minute to make sense of the man striding toward him. He knows that face, as well as his own. Identical twins, despite the little tells that allow others to make distinctions between the two.

His brother. ]

... Elros?

[ His brother. His little brother is here.

He strides forward immediately, seeking to close the gap between them, and reaches out when he's close enough, voice already breaking. ]

Elros, Elros, oh my brother.

[Oblivious or not, it didn't matter to Elros. All that did was that despite everything, beyond the lies and deception, the twins had been brought together again.

Perhaps he could deal with this world after all.

Elros didn't bother really slowing when they meet, just reached out in return to grab hold of his brother and tug him in for a tight hold. Only then would he really believe this was real. If he could touch and hear, then it could be nothing else.

The sudden and quick grin just gave evidence of the joy that replaced all hint of anger.]

Elrond... [He'd have tried to say more but for an equal well of emotion that rose up and made it impossible.]

[personal profile] elvenwise 2015-01-06 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's the single word that undoes him completely, and the feel of arms around his shoulders. He holds Elros just as tightly, winding his own arms around his brother's torso and just buries his face in the straight, dark hair that mirrors his own.

This is a miracle. An absolute miracle.

For the very first time, Elrond looks kindly on the lying, cheating monarchs that brought him here. Because his twin is with him, and nothing else matters at the moment. ]

How .. how ... when did you...

[ Of course, it comes out in a series of hiccups, and Elros may have to guess the 'get here' part that the loremaster is having trouble vocalizing. ]
mortalhalf: (Warm smile)

[personal profile] mortalhalf 2015-01-06 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Elros did much the same, just leaning into his twin's embrace and clinging to him so nothing, nothing could tear them apart. Nothing at all mattered but the halting words and the fact Elrond was there.

The laugh that escaped was hoarse with emotion and he pressed his forehead to his brother's shoulder. Oh, he's long since learned how to finish his brother's sentences. They'd had that skill since their memory began, and it had driven their foster fathers insane.

He managed to speak, answering after a few deep breaths and a hard swallow.]

Just minutes ago.

[Time didn't matter, having an audience witness them like that didn't matter. Lies didn't matter either. He just didn't quite dare close stinging eyes just yet. Even if he couldn't see anything past the cloth of Elrond's robes.]

Did you...[Brothers, without a doubt. Right down to how they responded to high levels of emotion.]

[personal profile] elvenwise 2015-01-06 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Who cares if anyone else is looking. Let them. Elrond has absolutely no problem with clinging to the guy who looks just like him. It's been literally an Age (and a half) since he's seen his brother. ]

Minutes. Your sense of timing is impeccable.

[ He tries to smile through his tears. ]

A few hours, no more. I am so glad to see you, brother.
mortalhalf: ask before taking please (Sweet)

[His thought exactly. Elros grinned again, pulling back just barely enough to attempt to see Elrond's face. Almost a mirror to his own, but unique in ways he knew well, even years since he'd last seen it. Even wet with tears that he knew also were mirrored on his own face.]

Good. [Finally his voice was steadying.]

Someone has to keep you from your studies. [Gentle tease, as if no time had passed between them at all. As if they were still children. Elros tightened his arms around Elrond again, as if the grasp could get much tighter.]

You have been missed as well. Dearly so. [Words echoed but needed not to be said to be heard between them.]

[personal profile] elvenwise 2015-01-07 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Elrond will make his apologies to the assembled host, and their majesties, later. Right now there is no way he will allow himself to be parted from his brother, short of death. And over his dead body, if it comes to that. ]

You were always more suited to the kingship than serious scholar pursuits.

[ A small smile, Elrond never believed himself capable of the task, and Elros more than proved he was. ]

Besides, someone had to write all the books that your children read.

mortalhalf: (Well then)

[personal profile] mortalhalf 2015-01-07 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just as parting would have to be met with Elros' dead body beside his brother's. If it came to that so soon, which he hoped it wouldn't. Not now.

He met that smile, even as he shook his head a little. Not really in denial.]

You would have done your part, were our roles reversed. And you would be magnificent - are you not my brother?

[He believed in his brother more than enough to know that without doubt. Elrond would always pull through when he was needed.

The mention of his children got a startled look, then confused. There was nothing more he could force out but a single silly word.]

Children?

[personal profile] elvenwise 2015-01-08 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh.

Oh dear.

He's just assumed that ...

Well. ]

Yes.
mortalhalf: ask before taking please (Curious)

[personal profile] mortalhalf 2015-01-08 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah.

Now what?

Elros really had no idea how to respond to that.

...Forgive him, this, Elrond. He reached for a lock of his brother's hair to give it a little tug, trying for a stern look that really just remained bewildered.]

I think you have a bit more to say than that, my dear brother...
