Definitely shouldn't have startled the man, obviously. ]
Whoa, buddy. You okay there?
no subject
His one free hand squeezes into a tight fist and relaxes as he tells himself no no no no no and takes a deep breath.]
Who. Are. You.
no subject
Johnny Storm. You might've seen me in the papers. Or on TV. Or on those tabloids.
no subject
He lets out a deep breath and shakes his head.]
No. Haven't.
[He hesitates, then figures he should... probably offer an explanation? Maybe? So begrudgingly, he adds:]
You... look like someone.
no subject
Or, at least, someone he's got one hell of history with. ] Important question: is it someone you want to kill, or is it someone you like?
no subject
Tried to kill him. Not anymore.
[Someone he likes? Well... he supposes so, though he's not sure he'd say that. He thinks it might be a little more complicated than that.
But then, isn't everything?]
no subject
Because you killed him, or because you stopped?
no subject
Stopped.
no subject
So what happened to your arm? Did he do that?
no subject
Hydra put it on. But it doesn't work here.
no subject
Why?
no subject
Because they were making me into their weapon.
And because technology doesn't work here.
no subject
[ Understatement of the year, but Johnny's not sure how to commiserate on that particular level -- and he's no therapist, so. ]
Wait, it doesn't? So how do these -- [ He pulls out the locket. ] -- things work? Magic?
no subject
Magic.
no subject
[ He shrugs, setting the locket aside and making a mental note to test it out later. He's curious about this world, interested in all its workings, and has half a mind to search for his missing team-mates later. Party on first, right? ]
What's your name, anyway?
no subject
James.
[If this guy starts calling him "Bucky," it'll just be to weird.]
no subject
Nice meeting you, James. [ He exhales. ] So, d'you know what the hell's really going on here? Is there really a war?
no subject
[He scratches his head, a little uncomfortable.]
Not the best person to explain.
no subject
[ Bucky's discomfort doesn't escape his notice, and Johnny's words are not unkind. The man looks pretty ill at ease, and he wonders why. Were they very good friends, this guy and him? Or --
He scratches his head. ]
Did you have to do that because of this war, or?
no subject
No.
[That had nothing to do with here.]
Just... haven't been here long. Not good at explaining.
