[Kieren settles down in with his laptop across his thighs, feet up against the coffee table opposite him and his head just hanging over the back of his chair. It is a really smooshy chair, the kind meant for naps probably. It makes Kieren's skinny legs look like tiny match sticks propped up. He's not reading fanfiction, but he was reading up on dwarf artists before his eyes had started to glaze over.

Architecture. He should have known. He exits the tab blindly (and about five others in the process) and then closes the laptop over completely. He misses illegal movie streams. He's developed a serious solitaire addiction over the holidays in their absence.

He rolls his head to the side, hoping desperately that maybe someone he knows will appear. Maybe Jack will toss a snowball at his head. Maybe Cassie will text him. Maybe Hiccup will stumble haphazardly into the IT room and drag him out. None of this happens, but he does catch sight of Loki's horns. Kieren stares, eyes half-lidded and impressed. For his GCSE's, he'd had to make a headdress -- it was a spectacular trash crown made of paper-mache and twisted wire. Loki's is pretty, perfectly made and probably an actual crown. But Loki's got the same kind of expression Kieren had had when he'd opened solitaire for the first time.

Kieren stares. And stares and stares until he's just sort of staring into space, in Loki's direction.

He has to save him. ]
