[Despite himself, there's a hint of dismay that creeps into the word. He can read - write, too - but not as easily as other people. That'd be something better suited for the Doctor, or Zoe, not him. He has no idea where they are, though. For all he knows they could be over in the other court or not even here at all. If he's going to find out information, he might very well have to give the library a go. Although, given the choice, he'd much rather try talking to people first.]
Aye, well...maybe. Talking to people, though, that I can do. Where would this Barrel place be, then?

[Diarmuid frowns. Destroying that library might be considered one of the more minor of Reynard the Fox's terrible deeds, but it had been the one to originally draw the man to Diarmuid's attention.]
It's a little difficult to explain where the Barrel is without showing you on a map. This a very vast place. However, I will be glad to show you where it is. You can either travel there via a fairy ring and horse or if that kind of magical travel bothers you, there are paths that can be taken via horse. Going the whole route that way will take longer, but...fairy rings...
[Considering where Jamie is from, Diarmuid knows that the words 'fairy rings' will likely create the same unease in the man as they do in himself. Fortunately, because of his speed, Diarmuid has been able to pretty much avoid using them.]
Also, if you wish, you can contact people over your locket.
[Diarmuid pulls out his to show to Jamie.]
They are not very hard to use and more handy than they seem at first.

Aye, well...might just stick to the horses for now. So long as I can find one, that is.
[The locket gets his attention, though. He'd mostly dismissed it earlier, so hearing that you can talk to people on it is a bit of a surprise.]
Hold on, ye mean that's what that's for? I thought...well, never mind what I thought. People actually use those rather than the rings or horses?

[Diarmuid catches that grimace no matter how fast it is and only nods in understanding, before moving onto a more pleasant topic.]
They do. I prefer talking to people face-to-face, but when they are across the world from you that is rather hard.
[He fiddles with his locket a little and then holds it out, encouraging Jamie to take it for the moment.]
As you can see, there are many posts here form people, both Seelie and Unseelie. There are also settings so you can limited who sees the message you send. You can also lock communication so that only you and another person can see it. Text, voice, and video messages can all be sent.

A boon? Is that what I think it is?
[He knows the stories, after all, and boons can be important things. Possibly powerful ones, too, unless it's different here than in the tales he's heard of as a youth.]

[Diarmuid gestures out to the hall around them.]
You are probably going to find that a lot of things here will remind you of the stories from your home. For me, it is quite a bit like coming home, but do be wary. Just because a lot seems like home or the stories of old, doesn't always mean it is.
[And the Fae, both Seelie and Unseelie are just as tricky as the stories say they are.]
