Kinda thought you were the hallucination. [ there's just a faint hint of his humor in his tone, like a kicked puppydog looking up at someone from the floor, but adam has to joke a little about it or else he might still be trying to differentiate between real and fake. he was expecting to hear the latin about the raven king again, whispered in his ear and echoed through a party, but here it had just been a walk. a long, long walk into a place adam had never been before.

adam's shoulders drop, and he looks around, away from blue's magnetic pull for just a second, and then shoves his hands in his pockets. ] I thought that was a dream. [ or cabeswater getting real literal with this whole "fix me now" thing. ] Almost looks like we went back in time.

( it's a weak attempt at humor, a bit of levity to make their situation feel less dire... but she regrets it instantly, because it smacks of sarcasm about their prior situation. the remorse for her poor joke is written all over her face as her eyes fall. they leave his form, his face, and instead find the stone of the walls around them. she laughs a dry, humorless laugh. )
