Mind yourself well and I shall not treat you as a slave.

[In name, at least. Gilgamesh tended to push around whoever he wanted however he pleased, but he's not overly fond of slaves on principle. Better they worship you of their own free will than be whipped half to death for the sake of compliance, unless circumstances merited punishment.

He also excuses what might come across as a bit of ego, as Sinuhe is correct: one did not hire a physician based on their modesty. And there's potential in this, which he'll eagerly pounce upon.]

Would you say, then, Sinuhe, that attending your duties offers you ample opportunity to observe others? Especially those of some... importance, as you've described.

[Ah. This is familiar. It wouldn't be the first time his skills as a doctor and his (as Horemheb put it) truly guileless face and manner have been asked to be a mask for some sort of spying.]

There is no place that does not welcome a physician, lord, and no man keeps secrets from him -no matter how great- if he fears his life is at risk.

Then you already know what I might ask of you.

[And Gilgamesh has humility enough, shockingly, to look honest about it. He's not beating around the bush for what he wants, not this time. Perhaps Sinuhe's quick and clever retreat to good manners paid off.

Gilgamesh goes on without sparing a single thought to those others who might be listening in. What does he care? He is the natural ruler, and so has nothing to fear from them or anyone else.]

I grant you leisure to act freely. So long as you report back to me, what interesting things you learn as you go about your business... we'll overlook your ill-born status in service of a higher authority.

[There's a moment of uncomfortable silence that Sinuhe can't entirely disguise before he speaks again. This has rather put a kink into his plans of learning what he could of this place's medicine, then going off to follow in his father's footsteps. He can't imagine Gilgamesh would care to hear what a physician of the poor has to relate about his patients.]

And where shall I find you, lord, when you have need of me?

Indulging myself in this realm's spoils, most likely.

[Gilgamesh speak for getting drunk, getting laid, with a strong chance of both at the same time. He seems to find his own joke rather funny, chuckling in an unnerving sort of way, but it's probably a good sign that he's laughing instead of... well, laughing while splitting someone else apart.

He supposes he could give a clearer answer, after several awkward seconds of this.]

Ah... well... they call this palace Caer Glaem, I'm told. You may summon me with your finest wine, otherwise. Rest assured I'll find it.

[He doesn't mention that he already knows the name of the palace, or that he's already inside of it himself. Or that he doesn't intend to leave it for a good while. (At least until the white stuff outside disappears.) This seems to be a situation where it's wisest to give his new liege lord a wide berth for as long as he possibly can.

He doesn't bow as he did before, but he nods, deep and respectful.]

As you will it.
