So they do. [She knows that lesson well. Sometimes even the dearest of friends can hide their true intentions under dutiful guises.] My children are more likely to show you their wings and teeth, however.

It is unforgivable that I have been separated from them.

Perhaps it was done on purpose. After all, a she-wolf will fight her fiercest if her cubs are at stake. They might want to see what you will do to get them back.

If it is a fight they seek, it is a fight they shall have. Those who separated me from them last were consumed by their flames.

[Richard might be the stoic brother, but that doesn't mean he's the dumb one, even if he doesn't put his plotting on display like the other two. And in this case he is more than capable of putting the constant references to dragons and her children's flames together.

Maybe he wasn't that far off the mark with the comment about hidden wings and fangs. He's from the middle ages. A dragon that looks like a woman is hardly the most incredible thing he's ever heard.]

There must surely have been easier ways to accomplish it, if immolation was their intent all along.

[His humor quiets her rage and she gives him a small grin. Those in the House of the Undying had surely had suicidal tendencies. Why else provoke her and her Dragons? Or perhaps they did not think she was strong enough to fight their tricks. Either way, they got what was coming to them.

She is meant to rule - not be housed with wizards like some trophy.]

They learned the folly of their ways far too late. I do not grieve them.

Why should you grieve for your enemies? Leave that to priests. No man would willingly follow such a commander.

[At least he certainly wouldn't.]

They were not my enemies until they made themselves so. Before, they were merely citizens. [It's not like they were an army or a group of mercenaries.] I show all of my enemies what justice feels like.

A man either is your enemy or he isn't. What he has been in the past or may be in the future are separate affairs.

[Spoken like a man who is engaged in near constant war with his own barons and vassals, contented one day and at his throat the next over some petty thing in that Aquitaine way. He'd expect nothing less. After all, how many times has he turned around and treated his own father the same way?]

You judge men only once? A man's life can linger on and his deeds may change from one year to the next. I fear you miss much of his character if you decide he is solely your enemy.

Though... [She tilts her head thoughtfully.] He should pay for every injustice he has committed.

Only The Lord judges for eternity. I don't have the leisure to wait for Doomsday and so judge men by the moment.

[Simpler that way and Richard does give every appearance of being a fairly simple man.]

The Lord? [Sorry, Richard, religions vary from world to world.] Which lord is that?

The Lord God. [Duh.] What other would there be?

[Religion is one of those things which Richard can have a decidedly tricky relationship with, but at the moment they're growing closer. Before being so rudely pulled from home he was beginning to think seriously about crusades...]

I do not know which one you refer to. [There are many, many beliefs in Westeros and beyond.] There are many gods in my world.

[He stares a bit. Even Saracens and Jews at least have the decency to only have one god. Any more sounds both irredeemably heathenish and inefficient.]

There is only one god in the world. I know that much. [Not my world. The concept of other ones is still something it will take him some time to come to grips with. Nonetheless, he thankfully manages to sound only like a man stating what he knows to be a fact, and not like a complete close-minded bigot.]

[gelenka]

In your world, ser; not in all worlds. [Though she doubts a whole world can believe in the same faith.] I cannot name nor number all of the faiths in Westeros and the lands beyond.

[He makes a dismissive noise, shrugs and turns his attention back to his drink. He still doesn't understand the whole 'other worlds' thing and prefers to ignore the intricacies of it if at all possible.]
