[If he didn't know the name of the place, he might hesitate to follow a stranger into it. Even now, his paranoid instincts (only the paranoid survive) tell him to split away from her. But there are no safer places to split to, so he meets her glance to offer another slight nod and follows her inside. Every muscle in his body not stiff from the accident is tense from a readiness to run or fight or hide as he steps in.

SUPER paranoid.]

[When no one attacks him, it is almost baffling.]
sistertohermen: (if thedas has popcorn I'm eating it)

[This guy needs to relax. She's already taken him under her wing (so to speak), so if anyone did attack him? They'd have to go through her first. Not to brag, but that would be particularly difficult. And while this tavern is known for shady deals all around, the tavernkeeper prefers that any actual fighting, killing, or general murdering goes on outside the doors. Which is good enough for her. She likes to end disputes in taverns without fighting, but some people just never learn.]

Are you all right? I could practically see some of them licking their lips for some easy coin.

[He'll relax when he's dead.

Or on LSD.]

Yes, yes—thanks to you. [He will at least exhale a fraction of relief, and finally he turns to look at his rescuer wow she is short. But then, Shaw is also short, and Shaw can wreck so much in such little time.] Your intervention was appreciated.
sistertohermen: (that's what I thought)

[personal profile] sistertohermen 2015-01-22 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yes, but is Shaw sitting under the four foot mark? Dwarves, man, they can and will kick your ass. Now imagine Shaw as a dwarf. Rachette gives a smile, small but relaxed, crossing her arms.]

Don't mention it. It's nice to break up a fight before it even begins for once. But it looks like you might need an escort to wherever you're going.

[personal profile] birdonym 2015-01-22 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shaw as a dwarf with a rocket launcher.

He'd take issue with that last comment, but it isn't exactly wrong. (First boon request: Bear.) At the very least, he needs help getting out of Daonna. It is even less of a nice place for Shardbearers now than it was before.]

This world we are currently inhabiting is not the element I am accustomed to. [To say the least.

He should introduce himself. So he offers her his hand, which is a little awkward, but he will roll with it.]
Harold Keat. [~*~paranoia~*~]
sistertohermen: (wasn't expecting that)

[personal profile] sistertohermen 2015-01-22 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is where the dialogue options would come up.
1. I'm Rachette, a Grey Warden.
2. You may call me Rachette if you must.
3. I am a Grey Warden, that is all you need to know.
>4. Nice to meet you.]

A pleasure to make your acquaintance. [Taking the hand to shake is much less awkward for her, but, well, she's had about a year to get used to literally almost everyone on the surface being a few feet taller than her.] I can see that you don't...dress like I've ever seen before. Even the finest of Ferelden don't have anything that looks like that.

[Easy enough to put two and two together.] So you aren't from around here. Admittedly, neither am I. [She doesn't want to say 'shardbearer' in a place like this, just in case.] But it's familiar enough.

[personal profile] birdonym 2015-01-22 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, you seem to take to your . . . aggressive accessories very naturally. [HE MEANS YOUR WEAPON.] Far from the type we use at home.

As thanks, can I buy you a drink?

[All of his guard dogs like drinking minus the canine one.]
sistertohermen: (calling alistair's bluff)

[personal profile] sistertohermen 2015-01-22 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her smile shifts into a smirk, nose wrinkling a little. 'Aggressive accessories', that's certainly a charming way of saying it.] Usually those who hide all their weapons are the kind of people looking to rob you or assassinate you. In my experience. I'm curious to know what kind of accessories you use if not blades. Bows?

We can talk about it over that drink. [Far be it for her to turn down a reward. Even if it's a pint. It means she doesn't have to pay for it herself.]

[personal profile] birdonym 2015-01-22 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, I don't accessorize like that. I don't like weapons. [HE REALLY DOESN'T. Ignoring that he has a concealed weapon on his person, he still doesn't like it. So he makes his way over to order a drink before them both before gratefully taking a seat. He should rest a bit before running off to something stupid again.]
sistertohermen: (calling alistair's bluff)

[personal profile] sistertohermen 2015-01-22 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You must come from somewhere safe to not bother knowing how to defend yourself. [Or maybe he meant to, but whatever injury he has keeps him from it. Which means that he's from somewhere safe enough that a cripple has lived as long as he has.] Unless that cane is a cleverly hidden magic staff.

[personal profile] birdonym 2015-01-22 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[The laugh is a little awkward although part of him is going, good idea, he should hide a magic staff in his cane.] I'm afraid not. New York City is . . . not the safest location, but the threats are more familiar to navigate.

I know which parts of town not to walk into, for one thing.
