I don't judge. [There's a reason his name doesn't have a title attached: mama married down.] But I had wondered why you shared a title with Lord Kayneth and remained so dissociated from him.

Because Kayneth Archibald is the walking, talking incarnation of everything that's gone wrong with mage society since the Association began. Rather than use his position of power to help younger families that are struggling to make sense of a world that's against them, he uses it to bully them, insult them, and drive them out so that he and his fellows can keep power in their own hands. This infrastructure leads to alienation, families dying out, and a perpetuation of the worst qualities in magi.
