It'd definitely be a reverse for me too, since I'm used to playing more medieval-types adjusting to modern settings and conveniences. Plus turian with a crossbow. :'|

My only concern with Garrus is while he and Cullen are very different characters, they do occupy a similar niche in terms of particular involvement in their political leanings (though Cullen is more concerned about being dutiful while Garrus is more SHOOT FIRST guys)

I've been in a game with a few Garruses (Garrusi?) and from my experience, in game settings they tend to lean towards inciting rebellion or encouraging dissent from within against the authority NPCs. It would depend on where you take him from and what sort of Shepard he was around, but I think there's ways to meld him a little differently thanks to how flexible ME tends to be with its gameplay/development.

tl;dr I'd be super for a more aggressive Team Neutral guy and I feel Garrus could fill that niche over time and so distinguish himself from Cullen. But like I said, there's room to do a whole lot.
