TEST DRIVE MEME #7

TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here!

OPTIONAL SCENARIOS

01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD.
The Seelie and Unseelie courts welcome you not with mirthful revelry, this time around dear friends. There is a seriousness in the air, though the food is still hearty and the imps still mischievous. After you have been briefed on your purpose here, you will find an endless feast and a night filled with entertainment to placate your concerns. Mingle with new arrivals, sneak down the castle halls and make sure your eyes are always on your glass; fairies and imps have no bias when it comes to tricks!

02. THE STATION.
Looking for a little slice of home? The Station gives you all that and more. Take advantage of the wifi, have a cup of fairy-brewed coffee (the one they didn't spit in) or sit back and relax on the patio. You can even move your things into one of the available rooms!

03. WILDCARD.
Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld or simply take advantage of your Locket! Be mindful, though -- the monarchs are watching and cross court communication should be done with the utmost secrecy.

"What's chocolate?" he asks. Biased she might be, but it's hard to assume a bias when Link has never really had an opportunity to try it. This woman seems nice enough.

"And what's caffeine? Why would you put that in coffee?" The milk and sugar to help with the taste makes sense, though. He actually likes milk, for one.

What is chocolate? Man, Emma has never had to describe chocolate to someone before. "Delicious," she informs him, pausing for a moment to shift her cup of hot chocolate over in his direction. No cinnamon, she hasn't even tried it yet, and she thinks he might like it better.

"It's... an ingredient, I guess." Hard to describe a chemical to a kid. "It sort of gives you energy, that's why most people drink coffee."

He makes a face at the description of caffeine, but when the hot chocolate is put in front of him Link gives it a suspicious look. It smells good, at least, and if she's saying it's okay it must be because everyone had been right to warn him away from coffee....

He takes a tentative sip and when he tastes how rich it is his eyes go wide. He practically has to fight to put the cup down because it's not his drink. It's this woman's.

"That is good!" he says, any trace of the pout replaced by pure delight.

"One of my favorite things." Better with cinnamon, always, but it makes her think of happiness and home. Kinda why she'd asked for it, hoping to feel a little less homesick. It's funny how the hot chocolate managed to comfort her less, than the kid that reminds her of her son.

"You can have it if you want, kid." She didn't need it, and if he liked it, well, he was probably going to enjoy it more than she would. "I'm Emma, what's your name?"

[personal profile] raised_by_trees 2015-05-10 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Link," he says before sipping down more of the hot chocolate. Impa's reprimands on how to behave in front of 'ladies' in the back of his mind, he manages to restrain himself from just outright chugging it all down in front of Emma. It was good--one of the nicest things he'd ever tasted!

"I think it's gonna be one of my favorites, too."

"I'm glad you like it." Her expression tips into a smile, because she always finds it easier to pretend everything is fine in front of a kid. She runs a hand through her messy blonde hair, deliberating, before she makes herself ask. She's got to.

"You here on your own?"

Sorry this is late: going through the finals crunch!

"Uh, yeah?" he said, surprised by the question. Didn't everyone go around alone? He didn't like it since Navi had gone missing, but he was used to being relatively on his own.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Seriously. He knew how to take care of himself.
dreamcatcher: (♙ 23)

No worries. Best of luck!

That was distinctly not the answer she was hoping for. Emma really shouldn't be looking to sign on any more expectations than finding a way home, but a kid stuck here on his own was not a thing she could easily ignore. How neutral he was about it was a little strange, too. Was he already used to being alone?

"How old are you?" She wonders, brow tucking. "Your parents aren't here with you?"

[personal profile] raised_by_trees 2015-05-15 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't have any." Even when he found out he technically wasn't a Kokiri, the idea of having parents once hadn't really registered with him. No, what had hurt was the fact Mido had been right when it came to all his teasing--until Navi had reassured him he would always be her Kokiri not matter where he had come from.

"Aaaaand.... let's see...." He took a second to count on his fingers. Saria liked to measure his height when she'd realized he was growing as fast as a scrub when she took him in. Every turn of the season she used to carve his height onto a tree, even when she had started needing to reach up to do it.

"I guess I've seen eleven springs by now?" Not counting when he'd gone into the future or been in those loops in Termina, but it was the best guess he could come up with.

"Why? Is it important?"

That was definitely not the answer Emma was looking for. She aches a little to think of a kid trapped here to begin with, but that he didn't have parents no matter he was? It wasn't a fun reminder for a woman that still had a hard time not feeling like an orphan. Why would these faeries bring a kid here to be all on his own? Was somebody looking out for him?

She leans on her elbows, more on eye level that way as she considers her answer. He seems utterly nonchalant about his state of not having any parents or anyone to look after him. It sucks that it's normal for him to be alone, but it also means if she implies he needs somebody to watch out for him he'll probably be a little offended... Even if Emma thinks that a kid of eleven needs adult supervision.

"My son is eleven," she tells him with a weak smile, stained with a bit of unhappiness to be separated from him. "If he were here on his own I think he'd be lonely. I guess I just don't want you to be, especially when this place seems dangerous." Not this place, but outside of the station... hell he was recruited into a war. Who recruited eleven year olds for war?

I just want to say I love this thread so much.

"I'm not lonely. I'm talking to you, aren't I? You're pretty nice, Miss Emma."

Well, if he's honest, he is lonely. Even when he'd fought against that giant bully Ganondorf and traveled through Termina he hadn't been alone. He'd had someone by his side to help him.

Now? He's looking for Navi and he has no idea where to even start or if she's even here. He fully intends on helping the people here no matter what--he's a hero, after all--but his main goal is still trying to find his fairy.

"Your son's my age? What's he like?"
dreamcatcher: (♙ 62)

awww me too! Emma always is drawn to little heroes whoops.

[personal profile] dreamcatcher 2015-05-16 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," she says with a slight smile, because not too many people would say she's nice at all, actually, but kids do tend to get a softer side out of her. "But I kind of meant when you're not talking to me. Who are you staying with, do you have a friend?" She really didn't want him to be all own his own, especially in a place as crazy as this one. Independent or not, eleven was way too young.

What was Henry like? From most people, Emma would probably resist talking about her son. It was hard to think about him, and she was so protective of him she didn't especially want to share bits and pieces about him. He'd just gotten kidnapped, she thought it made sense she was a little apprehensive. She couldn't really deal with her worries that he was distant since Pan when she was here, but she still worried about him, even a world a way.

"Well," she says, considering her answer. "I guess he's a little shorter than you. He's got dark hair and he thinks he's the funniest kid on the planet, and sometimes he is." Emma smiles a little wistfully at that, thinking of the look on Henry's face when he makes a joke. "And he's a hero. Believe it or not, he found me, and he saved me." She didn't want to imagine her life without him... and now, well, she kind of had to. "I miss him a lot," she confessed to her small companion.

"A few," he says in regards to friends. Mostly because the player hasn't figured that out just yet. "I'm looking for one in particular, though. I thought I saw her and that's how I wound up here." Yet another thing that he makes sound like it's just Tuesday for him.

However, when she mentions that Henry is a hero Link sits up a little straighter, a grin on his face. Another kid who had saved people? Maybe they could be friends if he wound up here, too. At least Henry probably wouldn't give him weird looks if he could ever talk about the things he'd done for people.

"Did he fight a dragon, too?"
dreamcatcher: (♙18)

lol no worries

[personal profile] dreamcatcher 2015-05-21 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
She's not sure that having a few friends is enough for her. It's probably not her job to make sure this kid is looked out for, but Emma really can't help herself. Nobody looked out for her, and now she's pretty much incapable of looking the other way. He's too young to be on his own, having a few friends that were his age aren't quite enough. "What does she look like? Maybe I can help you find her." Biting off a bit more than you can chew there, Miss Swan.

Henry is a hero to her, though perhaps not in the same way Link is. Her eyebrows rise, because while Emma has coincidentally fought a dragon, she's pretty sure that's not what he means. "No," she says with a pause, before tilting her head. "You've fought a dragon?"

[personal profile] raised_by_trees 2015-06-01 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Her name's Navi. She's my fairy. She glows blue and she's got a high pitched voice and she's always getting on me about listening 'cause she knows a lot."

And he missed her. She'd been the one constant throughout his travels through Hyrule and beyond, the only one who had seen that bad future and could vouch for him with what he'd seen. Then she disappeared and he had no idea where she was.

As to the dragon, well: "She helped me fight the dragon and other stuff, too."

Please believe him. He's so tired of grown ups not believing him when he's telling the truth.
