...my Master would not have won the war had it gone as planned. Even if we made it to the final round, he didn't have what it took to emerge victorious. I was fully prepared to see him meet his end against a worthy foe.

But instead he had that robbed from him by that black clad harlot and her golden grail! It's outrageous!

Hah, you've got a better grip than I would've given you credit for. I'm actually impressed you can admit that. But there's no such thing as an honourable end. Or a bad one either. It is what it is, you can go out in style or not, but it doesn't change the facts. Either way once it's over, that's all there is for you, won't make any difference.

But I also wanted what was best for him, and I can say with absolute assurance...that wasn't it. He deserved better.

[Of course, she doesn't just drink a sip, the whole glass is gone in that one toast. And of course, she thinks he means 'Matou' as in her Master - as in for his death with her. Come back for CCC? What's that.]

You're a lot more tolerable when you're not spewing that junk.

[She raises her glass again - and then realises it's empty, so she reaches over and goes right ahead and refills it.]

Anyway, we're countrymen, so that sounds easy enough to me. It should be fun to fight together.

[Not Spanish? Okay, cool, say no more, she's down with it. So she reaches over to offer her hand out, leaning against the table, which means pressing her breasts against it. Enjoy the view, it may or may not be accidental.]

[No the prize is a little lower. She is the devil, and she is tempting him...but apparently he's strong, dammit.]

[She laughs, an entirely undignified, sharp 'hah!' And she's definitely noticed that pause in deciding on what the call her. It's kind of cute that he goes with her surname.]

You bet your ass I'm gonna fight - so long as they're paying, or I can plunder what I like for my payment - and my allies are my equals. So you can call me Rider, Francis, Drake, or what ever else you want to.

I believe Drake will do just fine, if you're making no attempt to hide your identity...

[He forgets it's kind of a big deal sometimes. Leo never made him do it.]

Still, as good a motivation as any for you, I suppose. I would like to place trust in the court that has chosen me, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Well, certainly...but I'm not entirely sure I see the sense in their goal.

I would like to ask the monarchs about it directly if I'm ever given the opportunity...I can make a decision once I'm informed.

What's not to understand? Everything comes to an end, there's no avoiding that. You can fight all you like to prevent it, and you might succeed for a while, but it'll catch up. Any other fight would be futile.

Even so, I could not in my right mind bring an end to all things. It just...it seems completely unthinkable.

But that's the natural course anyway. And something new's going to sprout up in its place, that's just the way the world works. People, plants, animals, even cells all die to be replaced by new ones. Why not worlds. If it's natural, there's nothing terrible about it, who are we to say it shouldn't be?

It's not people who rule the world and get to make decisions for it, as much as we like to think so. That's all up to nature and the elements. Trust me on that, you learn a lot about it during a life at sea.
