I've heard a lot about his backstory, and it sounds to me like he was driven to rage. Being changed by circumstances and hardened is a difficult thing to undo. I'd be cruel to say "no change is impossible" but I would be realistic enough to say that in the case of Tarz, it would be very hard to undo most of his opinions now.
