TEST DRIVE MEME #8

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here! OPTIONAL SCENARIOS 01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD. The Seelie and Unseelie courts welcome you not with mirthful revelry, this time around dear friends. There is a seriousness in the air, though the food is still hearty and the imps still mischievous. After you have been briefed on your purpose here, you will find an endless feast and a night filled with entertainment to placate your concerns. Mingle with new arrivals, sneak down the castle halls and make sure your eyes are always on your glass; fairies and imps have no bias when it comes to tricks! 02. THE STATION. Looking for a little slice of home? The Station gives you all that and more. Take advantage of the wifi, have a cup of fairy-brewed coffee (the one they didn't spit in) or sit back and relax on the patio. You can even move your things into one of the available rooms! 03. WILDCARD. Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld or simply take advantage of your Locket! Be mindful, though -- the monarchs are watching and cross court communication should be done with the utmost secrecy. |

And maybe longer. What does he know?]
Assuming your old man is everyone's old man. [With a devil-may-care attitude, he moves behind Terry to press his hand on the desk, and he leans in close to him. Jason wishes he had his mask for occasions like this, but The Red Hood is all too associated with his battlefield antics. Being here in the Station wearing it wouldn't be good.
But he takes the risk, eyes dropping to the red bat on this guy's chest.] Ah, and looks like he is. Nice.
no subject
But he knows the symbol. He could be talking generally instead of specifically about Bruce.
He is right about the disappointment though, and Terry honestly doesn't want to think about it. ]
You get into people's personal space a lot, man?
[Casual, casual. The facial recognition comes up blank and Terry decides to improvise. ]
You gotta buy a guy dinner before you get this close.
no subject
He's just not there yet.]
But I've got a thing for pointy ears, you follow? They're eyecatching.
no subject
He doesn't want to say that Bruce has a type, but Terry's seen himself in the mirror. ]
Awh, you're a fan.
[The tone's cocky, almost light-hearted. ]
no subject
Something tells me you're ... second-rate. Why, I found you this easily. I could think of five better ways to get what you're digging up. [He quirks a thumb toward the computer.]
And make it actually worth your while. What're you gonna do? Live here?
no subject
He's not Bruce though and Terry loves to talk.]
Why does this always happen to me?
[It's an innocent enough question. They've already established that he's Not That Batman. He can afford to be a little more Terry. ]
I could live here just fine and never face an outdoor toilet. Ever.
[There's something about Jason, though -- something that reminds him of old news vids of Tim as Robin. He peaks out between his fingers. ]
But I get feeling you've been slumming it here for a while, so I'm listening fanboy.
no subject
Poor Terry.]
I don't know why I should be helping you. Shouldn't you be a master of problem solving? That is what your ego is telling you, isn't it? [An edge seeps into his voice. He doesn't like him now, that much is clear. That flirtatious mocking has passed, now replaced with obvious agitation.]
no subject
What is with the 'tude?
[He's just -- not going to dignify any of that with an answer. He's already well aware he's not as good as Bruce at all of this. ]
no subject
Wow, you really are second rate. Look, lemme do you a favor and give you some advice. Drop the costume, get along with some cute little tights or whatever without that symbol, and enjoy the show here. We don't need some loser calling himself Batman. We're good.
station
Who cares what an old man would do?
station
You know what? You're right.
[For the next five minutes, he's not going to care. ]
no subject
They probably didn't bring him, anyway.
[ Like Salia or Salako or anyone else who would try to tell her to do anything different. ]
no subject
[Bruce would never admit he'd be a liability in battle. But, he would be. ]
You just arrive here too?
no subject
She shrugged, forced her frown back to a neutral expression, and put that morbid line of thought to the back of her mind. ]
Just kidnapped, just arrived.
station
[ When he looks up from where he'd been reading through his notes, though, his amused grin freezes across his face for a moment. Batman. Except--not. There's no cape, the symbol's different, the bodyshape and voice and everything is different. But that's undoubtedly Batman. Or someone...affiliated with Batman?
Kaldur's voice whispers in the back of his mind, reminding him of alternate universes and temporal displacements. ]
...So, uh. You new here?
no subject
Fairy's. That's how. ]
-- Uh. Yeah, new. Hi.
[Time travel is one more option, he guesses. ]
no subject
Hi. This is...slightly awkward. Don't mind me. I'm just a little surprised.
[ Dick waves at the symbol, then up at Terry's mask--mostly the ears. ]
So, you're Bat...boy? Batguy? Batteen? Bat-something?
no subject
[He doesn't wave back; he's too busy running facial recognition and voice matching. The results are conclusive. ]
You're -- Robin, right? The first one.
[Is that a spoiler? Is he allowed to say that?]
no subject
[ He does kind of wish he had his suit and mask--his sunglasses at the very least. It hadn't bothered him so far, but right now, faced with a fully masked Bat, he's feeling oddly naked. ]
Though it's the only one, so far.
[ At least Kaldur's told him about Jason already, so it's not-- It's not as strange as it might otherwise have been. ]
How far along in the future are you from?
[ What happened to Bruce? he carefully doesn't ask. ]
no subject
[He pauses, hesitates. How much information is appropriate? ]
You're not as fresh faced and wide-eyed. Still got a mean high-kick, though, for someone pushing fifty.
[And Bruce -- Bruce is Bruce. ]
So I'm pretty far.
no subject
[ He stands to offer his hand, though he's still quite a bit shorter than Terry. Look, Dick doesn't hit his growth spurt for at least another year or so. Maybe more. ]
Dick Grayson, fourteen years old.
[ Everyone else here knows, anyway. And he's willing to bet this guy does too, if he already recognized him as Robin. ]

Don't suppose anyone's told you you have a knack for asking the right questions the wrong way.
