TEST DRIVE MEME #8

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here! OPTIONAL SCENARIOS 01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD. The Seelie and Unseelie courts welcome you not with mirthful revelry, this time around dear friends. There is a seriousness in the air, though the food is still hearty and the imps still mischievous. After you have been briefed on your purpose here, you will find an endless feast and a night filled with entertainment to placate your concerns. Mingle with new arrivals, sneak down the castle halls and make sure your eyes are always on your glass; fairies and imps have no bias when it comes to tricks! 02. THE STATION. Looking for a little slice of home? The Station gives you all that and more. Take advantage of the wifi, have a cup of fairy-brewed coffee (the one they didn't spit in) or sit back and relax on the patio. You can even move your things into one of the available rooms! 03. WILDCARD. Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld or simply take advantage of your Locket! Be mindful, though -- the monarchs are watching and cross court communication should be done with the utmost secrecy. |

That's what he's doing today, standing in the middles of the aisle of the coffeeshop, distracted by his screen when he hears someone step in and stop behind him. He twists and looks--up. She's tall, is his first thought. She's a new face, is the second, and he offers her an apologetic smile. ]
Hey, sorry. Was I in your way?
[ Though he doesn't know her, she may find him...rather familiar. ]
no subject
For a very long moment she can't speak. He doesn't recognize her, which honestly should make this easier. (It doesn't; it hurts, for all she's avoided him since they parted ways.) ]
No, I was not paying attention, [she says at last. There's a subtle furrow to her brow. Something terribly sad. ] My -- my apologies.
no subject
[ His smile fades a bit as he tilts his head, peering up at her. ]
Hey, you okay? You're not hurt, are you?
no subject
[She doesn't know what to do. There's no way to ever plan for a situation like this. Except to run, maybe. ]
I was just -- surprised. You look very much like someone I used to know.
[She doesn't run; so half-truths are the next best thing. ]
no subject
You know him, right? Older-me? Or...knew?
[ "Used to know" doesn't sound promising at all. ]
no subject
Knew. I knew him. It has been -- some time, since we last crossed paths.
[It's awkward, she means. It's still tense. But she manages a smile; she doesn't share the same history with this one. ]
My name is Koriand'r. But I think you will know me as Starfire, one day. I never imagined you so short, Dick.
no subject
Hey, that means I'm gonna grow! That's always good news. It means I might stop getting "shortstuff" jokes, right?
[ He holds a hand out for a shake. ]
It's nice to meet you, Starfire! Or Koriand'r, I guess, since we're not going by codenames. Meet you...again? In advance? Pre-meet?
no subject
Pre-meet, I think. It is very nice to meet you, Dick. Again.
[This time, the smile comes easier. The tension in her shoulder subside. It is easier, she decides, with this version of Dick. It's less awkward. ]
no subject
[ He shakes her hand and tips his head towards the counter. ]
Can I get you a drink to apologize? For, y'know, being in your way.
[ And partly that he isn't who she knows, but only partly. That isn't his fault and he isn't going to apologize for not being someone else. ]
no subject
[She means it as a joke. ]
And you really do not have to apologize.
no subject
I want to! And I meant like coffee or hot chocolate or a frappacino or something like that! ...But I bet I could figure out a way to get you a drink-drink if you wanted one.
