TEST DRIVE MEME #8

TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here!

OPTIONAL SCENARIOS

01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD.
The Seelie and Unseelie courts welcome you not with mirthful revelry, this time around dear friends. There is a seriousness in the air, though the food is still hearty and the imps still mischievous. After you have been briefed on your purpose here, you will find an endless feast and a night filled with entertainment to placate your concerns. Mingle with new arrivals, sneak down the castle halls and make sure your eyes are always on your glass; fairies and imps have no bias when it comes to tricks!

02. THE STATION.
Looking for a little slice of home? The Station gives you all that and more. Take advantage of the wifi, have a cup of fairy-brewed coffee (the one they didn't spit in) or sit back and relax on the patio. You can even move your things into one of the available rooms!

03. WILDCARD.
Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld or simply take advantage of your Locket! Be mindful, though -- the monarchs are watching and cross court communication should be done with the utmost secrecy.

[Things that are, as it turns out, the opposite of subtle: grabbing one icicle-like guy and dragging him off to a quiet corner for a private conversation after he's been bouncing cheerfully around the room and ignoring every single lesson from Professor Illyana about trying to appear intimidating. Or whatever. Bobby lets himself go limp the moment he hears Scott's very familiar voice, but the moment he's set free, he waves his arms in the air in a rather animated fashion while he tries to find words.

The first thing is that Scott even did that, which is weird? It's totally weird. Is that some space pirate move? Is that what space pirates do? He finally settles down and stops waving his arms around while he's clearly trying to find the right words.

Space pirate stuff aside, Bobby was convinced, utterly convinced, that he was here alone. And he's not. Scott is here. His leader is here. His really good friend is here. While Bobby is closest to Hank, Scott was the one who came and helped him out of his tricky situation when he first revealed his powers to the world. He's strong, dependable, and boring. Boring is ... very good when a war is happening. Bobby is certain of that.]

See, I didn't yell? [Not the best place to start.]

Um, I didn't realize you were here or I would've come and found you sooner. And did you hear that there's apparently a war out there? I know that we've trained and all, but war? Seriously? [Slightly better.

Maybe.]

[ Well, he tried. Jean would be helpful right about now, even though that'd also mean they'd been thrust into an even stranger and harder-to-predict situation without resolving their own personal issues, which is not a good way to resolve your personal issues. But space pirate lessons don't work very well when applied to Bobby, apparently. Not yet. Maybe one day, when they're older and they've grown into this more.

Still, he defaults to his role. Scott is the leader, and he's going to lead. He doesn't know what he's going to do just yet, but he's going to think of something.
]

I heard. [ He's not sure what he thinks about it yet. They've been dragged into something that's not really their business, and last time it happened when it was their business, it wasn't what it seemed. ] I only just got here, but it wasn't hard to pick up. What did they tell you about it? Did they tell you to sign up?

[ Bobby what did you promise people Bobby please have taken at least a second to think about it before you opened your mouth even though he probably didn't— ]

No, no, I kind of got the idea that we were signed up just by coming along, but I haven't agreed to anything and no one's asked. [At least he hasn't done that. Bobby does have his head on straight sometimes, and this is one of the areas where he knows what his duties are. He's an X-Man, and as far as he's learned in this room, that's something he can continue being until he figures out what to do next.

Actually, it sounds like it'll be Scott who's left to figure it out. He's really glad about that.]

I didn't learn a whole lot except that there's a different side and we can fight them. Mostly I've just been eating and asking questions, but a lot of other people are new, too. [So, asking the "right" questions hasn't actually occurred to him. He can't ask them of people who don't know. See, Scott, he didn't screw up ... that badly ... lack of subtlety aside.]
evenslimmer: (I'm worried about you)

[personal profile] evenslimmer 2015-07-16 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the impression I've gotten too.

[ No, this is good. Good start. Nobody's shooting at them, nobody's calling them devils, nobody even seems to pay too much attention to the living snowman and his friend with the Star Trek glasses. Apart from the fact that they've been dragged into the proverbial wardrobe and have no idea how they got there or who's recruiting them this time...it could be worse.

It's still not great. Scott's getting super irritated about this happening to them repeatedly.
]

I don't remember anybody asking me if I wanted to come along this time, do you? [ Because Scott's attached to their future now; he would have done anything to stay, to keep working to make things different. ] And I definitely don't remember anyone justifying to me why I should come along and fight this war. Or what this war is even about.

[ He takes a look back at the party, and even with the world filtered by red, it's still clear enough. ]

If there's even a war going on. It might be like the "mutant genocide."

[ Yeah he's not going to let that one go. Ever. ]

The fairies asked, but it was more like, "Hey, do you wanna know about fairies?" Of course I want to know about fairies! [Bobby, this is why no one lets you go anywhere alone, and why bad things happen when you are left alone. He realizes that this was a terrible idea, but some weird stuff happened back home that taking a brief detour to learn about fairies hadn't seemed that strange.

But then the rest came out of one of the fairies' mouths, so ... now he knows more.]

There may or may not be a war, but I guess the bigger question is not that there's a war, but what we're going to do about it. [Bobby looks sulky for a moment, and it seems like it has to do with the war, but then he adds, in true Iceman fashion:] Especially since I'm not gonna become a fairy anytime soon.

You'd never pull off the wings the way Warren does.

[ He should know better than to encourage Bobby's Bobby-ness, but it's necessary to say something while he thinks over all of that, before Bobby just keeps going and going and Scott can't get a word in edgewise to head him off. ]

We're not going to do anything until we know more about what's going on here. [ Obviously. ] And we know they know how to send us back. After the last time I don't trust what anyone says about what we're supposed to be doing. We'll look around, and we'll make a decision on our own. But carefully, Bobby. Because I'm not so sure we should trust them, but we don't want to make enemies out of them either until we're sure if they're the good guys or the bad guys.
