TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here!

OPTIONAL SCENARIOS

01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD.
The grand feast is held in the Eaglais clearing. The food is good, the music is sweet, and the evening is lit by gentle fairy lights. All Shardbearers of all courts are summoned here under a universal truce for the evening. Nature itself has shaped itself into tables, chairs, and long couches so that the new guests can rest. When they’re ready to call it a night, Shardbearers are brought to their court strongholds in a one-way trip by fairies and imps.

02. NETWORK
Take advantage of your Locket! The network can be accessed by any Shardbearer with a locket or shardless characters with enchanted devices, and is a quick way to meet new people and discuss the state of the world.

03. WILDCARD.
Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld! There are lots of places to go, and plenty of trouble to get into in them!

Lan | OC

After finding someone involved in the catering and ensuring that she had something suited to her diet in hand, Lan was perfectly content to wander through the feast. Not the finest party she'd been to, but it was better than serviceable. There were an awful lot of humans, but it's to be expected given that they have such short lives and must breed quickly.

Standing out in a crowd doesn't bother her and given that she is tall, lean, and slicked smooth with pale blue grey scales it's more or less inevitable. Briefly, she offers up a few words of thanks that she'd changed into her better sarong for the day. If she's going to arrive in another world with only herself and a single skirt, at least it's neatly pressed linen.

Her laugh is light, clear, and comes easily. As she winds through the people present, she's either untroubled or very practiced at hiding her concerns. Lan is quite sure there's a joke to be made about sang froid in situations such as these, but she wonders if any of the others will be brave or gauche enough to make it. While she may have scales, she's not quite as reptilian as some might fancy.

"Tell me, what do you think of all this?"

This one looks a little unusual, and for a moment, Dorian pauses. (The moment may have been spent calculating whether or not he feels comfortable hitting on them. He hasn't decided yet.) The scales do give off a reptilian air, which reminds him almost uncomfortably with that little meeting he had with Avaritia earlier.

"I think it's a clever move to summon everyone at the same time. Saves the courts on catering."

All right, so it's a little glib. So sue him. It's the first time he has ever seen a summoning like this.

"And that bodes well, I think. Any group of beings that can organize a dinner without resorting to bloodshed or rent garments aren't too poorly off." When Lan laughs, there's a ripple of light and colour over her chest and throat. It's not that her scales reflect the ambient light around them, but they shift and flicker from within.

"That said, I may be biased. I used to work in a gallery."

Brightness touches his expression, his lips tugged up at the very phrase. "A gallery! Art, or, uh—?" He leaves it hanging to let her fill him in, half-distracted by the prettiness of the colour moving over her. It is strange and beautiful.

And he has always had a fondness for something new.

"Mostly paintings and prints, but we had a few mixed media and the occasional bit of statuary that the owner said was 'rare' but was really made by his niece." She looks out over the crowd and leans in, just a bit, and stage whispers, "We kept threatening to put them in the restrooms or sell them off to hotel lobbies."

Shocking.

Now Dorian laughs despite himself. Without thought of what he is doing, he offers out his hand in greeting. "Sounds like you know what you're doing. Dorian Gray, by the way. Coincidentally, a gallery owner."

One who may have someone new to offer a job.

With her head cocked to one side, Lan looks more birdlike than anything else but after a flicker of confusion she holds out her hand to shake. Humans do this, don't they? How delightfully novel.

"A pleasure to meet you, Dorian. I go by Lan, it's a bit easier for people to grapple with than the full, messy name, but all that is irrelevant, tell me about the sort of art you care to show."
