Well, I'm looking for one. Owen Glendower. They hid his body from the English centuries ago, and a lot of things point to him having been taken to Henrietta.

( he hunches his shoulders like see, self explanatory. )

That's what's so special about Henrietta.

( at least at first. now it's home, too, and gansey could elaborate an essay on why henrietta is special. )

[aaand the eyebrow arches higher.]

Because there's a dead king buried there? I mean, that's cool and all, but it sounds more likely to make the town into a tourist trap than anything magic.

[wakens]

It can't be a tourist trap when no one knows about it. People still think he's buried somewhere in Europe. Most people.

( and he's seen proof of that magic, too, which has only been making him more and more certain that glendower is nearby, below his feet, all this time. )

Henrietta is magic, and Glendower's there. We just haven't found him yet.

[assalted]

Yeah, but when you find him? Boom. Suddenly, families with screaming kids taking pictures of everything and crappy souvenir shops popping up everywhere.

[You have been warned.]

( this is probably true, but considering they expect to find glendower sleeping and to wake him, things might go down differently. but he gives a short laugh and a smile. )

Cross that bridge when we get to it.

[He'd have all sorts of other advice for you if he knew that part -- like no stop do not wake the dead that sounds like a very bad idea. But for now, a shrug and a smile.]

So, I guess this whole situation must be like a dream come true if you're really into magic.

[wakens]

( UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR, MY FRIEND. he looks like he doesn't even know where to start. )

Yeah, it's... it's splendid. It's incredible. It's the stuff of legends I've been researching for years.

[assalted]

[If only Magnus were here. That guy could throw off anyone's fairytale ideas of magic.]

All the stories are true.

[What Jace told Clary, way back when all this began. And he was right, wasn't he? Simon frowns a little, contemplative, but eventually shrugs.]

I mean, Virginia exists back home. Maybe we're technically from the same world and you just can't see all the crazy stuff.

[wakens]

That's certainly possible. I don't think magic has any limits in how it demonstrates itself.

( it definitely has limits in the broader sense of the word, but not in the ways it exists. it can be a forest, it can be a dream, it can be a line of energy that runs under the ground. )

And I think it's selective in who gets to see it.

[assalted]

[Simon scoffs, pursing his lips.]

Not that selective. Pretty much everyone but mundanes, really.

[wakens]

Can only magical people see magic in your Brooklyn?

( you'll have to excuse him, finding things out is kind of his thing and he will be asking questions forever or until he's satisfied he has all the facts. )

Can you do magic, yourself?

[assalted]

Yeah. Warlocks and witches, fairies, vampires, werewolves, demon slayers, etcetera.

[He counts off on his fingers as he goes, but he thinks he got all the groups. Probably. Are mermaids real? He's still not sure about that one.]

But no. I can only do magic in Dungeons and Dragons.

[wakens]

( the d&d joke makes him chuckle, which is worthy of note considering magical creatures are still something he's trying to wrap his head around. )

Magical beings like that existing here is one thing, but them existing back in my world... I don't know. It seems strange. I thought I was starting to finally see the world for what it was, now that I'd seen magic, but it must only be the tip of the iceberg.

( he's talking about this more than he normally would with a stranger. maybe because he's been alone so far and has seen so much, had so many ideas, and no one to bounce them off of. it's oddly reminiscent of his early days on the hunt for glendower, all by himself. )

Hey, I get it. I though magic was just like, movie and manga stuff up until a few months ago. Then my best friend turned out to be from a race of demon hunters, and things sort of just spiraled from there.

[Now he drinks blood and lives with a Xbox-obsessed werewolf. Life got weird very fast.]

My best friends are magic, too.

( or dead, but that's a detail. )

But I'm the one that dragged them into this in the first place.

[Almost all his friends these days are some sort of magic. But he's the only dead one.]

"This" meaning hunting dead kings? I mean, it doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world to drag your friends into. Just like a supernatural scavenger hunt.

[wakens]

( gansey points a finger at simon, like ah-ha! you got it. )

Exactly! That's what it's been, for the most part. I don't think I would have gotten this far without them, either.

[assalted]

[Dude, he wishes he and his friends were having such fun adventures as "magic scavenger hunts". It probably involves less war and dying.]

Are they here? Your friends, I mean.

[wakens]

Not as far as I can tell, no, but I'm still looking to be sure.

( he misses them already, after living such close quarters with some of them, after spending so much of his free time with them, but he manages not to let it show. )

What about you? Any familiar faces around?

Not that I've seen.

[He frowns, but attempts a shrug like it's no big deal. Like he hasn't spent most of his life looking out for Clary and totally knows what to do with himself when he isn't.]

But it's cool. We can be alone and out of place together.

[wakens]

( gansey would relate to that a lot. he's taken such responsibility of his friends that not having them to focus on is unsettling. )

We can start a club for the lonely and out of place.

[assalted]

I think phrasing it like that might give it some very different and unwanted implications.

[wakens]

( oh my god. he huffs a breath like he's trying not to laugh. HE HADN'T THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY BECAUSE HE'S PURE. )

People can think what they want, although it could potentially make things very awkward.

[And clearly it's Simon's job as an evil creature of the night to corrupt that purity.]

If people think you're running a fairyworld singles club? Yeah, just a little awkward.
