TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping to EACHDRAIDH? Why not give the setting a test run here!

OPTIONAL SCENARIOS

01. ARRIVING IN THE DRABWURLD.
The grand feast is held in the Eaglais clearing. The food is good, the music is sweet, and the evening is lit by gentle fairy lights. All Shardbearers of all courts are summoned here under a universal truce for the evening. Nature itself has shaped itself into tables, chairs, and long couches so that the new guests can rest. When they’re ready to call it a night, Shardbearers are brought to their court strongholds in a one-way trip by fairies and imps.

02. NETWORK
Take advantage of your Locket! The network can be accessed by any Shardbearer with a locket or shardless characters with enchanted devices, and is a quick way to meet new people and discuss the state of the world.

03. WILDCARD.
Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld! There are lots of places to go, and plenty of trouble to get into in them!

Then it's a shame you're not one of us.

Go on. Hit me with it.

Is there a way to find other Shardbearers from your world?
depicted: (I want all the ass)

Ah.

That's pretty much only putting out an open call from the network, sorry.

[There are ways to sense another's homeworld, with a great deal of effort and training, but that only works if you're in person already. Kinda misses the point.]

That's the answer I expected, but I still wondered if there was something more practical. Thank you, though.

Are you with the university, by the way?
depicted: (so take it in don't hold your breath)

[personal profile] depicted 2015-11-17 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm Jade Society. Not exactly the same thing, but they do give me a nice place on the continent. [He gives Richard a little smile.] Why, looking to enrol?

Not at present, but I wanted to say we might see each other there.

( a beat. )

Or it might be too big for that.

[A soft laugh.] Nowhere is too big that two people moving in the same circles won't see each other.

It's Dorian Gray, by the way. A pleasure, Gansey.

( huh! funny name. )

Very nice to meet you, Mr. Gray. I'm sure we'll cross paths.

What is the Jade Society like?

[He gets that sometimes. There's a little tug at the corner of Dorian's mouth. It's always amusing to see whether or not people recognize it.]

Ever attended a university, Gansey? Academic quibbling, a love-hate relationship with the students, an unsurprising number of dalliances against library bookshelves? Same deal.

The best thing about them is how relaxed they are about everything that isn't knowledge. Don't think they'd care if I had an affair with the monarch of every other court, except to ask that I try to bring back some interesting data.

Sounds like my school. It's good to know I'd be used to it all already.

That's kind of impressive, in a place like this.

It's heaven.

[He knows it might sound a little dramatic, but these courts are so much freer, so much more open and breathable than the two courts they will one day fall to or become. To speak with others freely, and to live under the promise that the speech will always be free, even in times of war: that's a gift. He has lived almost two full years forced to speak in secret with those dearest; he has been cursed for a conversation with someone from the wrong side.

Now, he is free.]

Are you telling me you're Jade, then?
wakens: (Default)

[personal profile] wakens 2015-11-17 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm Diamond.

( or so he's been told. gansey has never given much thought to the kind of person he is. mostly he thinks about the kind of person he wants to be.

he's started looking into the other courts, out of curiosity, and maybe as a lead to find his friends, but he hadn't gotten to studying up on Jade yet. all he's got is what dorian is telling him. )

I like information, but not quite like that.

Ah, not the nerds but the neat freaks.

[The courts are delightfully fun to stereotype. Of course, Dorian himself proves that the stereotypes are not exactly reliable guides, but he still likes doing it. It's fun to tease.]

[personal profile] wakens 2015-11-22 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that what we're known as?

( he wouldn't call himself a neat freak, but there is some truth to it. he likes things in a certain order. it makes him feel in control. )
depicted: (better to burn)

[personal profile] depicted 2015-11-27 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's what came to mind.

[Looking at the court. Thinking about what it means. Exactly that need for control.]
wakens: (down they fell like the tower)

[personal profile] wakens 2015-11-27 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
What comes to mind for the other ones?

( he's curious about the stereotypes. this court system is interesting, although it keeps reminding him of politics. )
