[ Merry-making really isn't Zack's strong suit.

He remembers the day he first arrived, how preoccupied and out of sorts he felt, and it's strange to feel at ease here now. War likely looms on the horizon, but he's happy to enjoy a little peace while it lasts. The truce is very different from the strict divisions of Seelie and Unseelie Courts, and it's...a relief, in its way.

Upon being hailed by a stranger he doesn't know (a newcomer, he presumes), Zack smiles politely and nods. ]

There were many questions that went without answers, Ysayle discovering that the imps and forest-like folk that provided for them weren't able to answer anything beyond the basics. She was in Allaidh Darach with a piece of the Sacred Gem within her breast which only raised further doubt within her. Surely The Mothercrystal would have noticed a powerful crystal within her?

Perhaps that is why she was chosen as one.

She shifts her weight from one foot to the next in an attempt to grow more comfortable as peers down at the man. Sure hope he's not so easily intimidated by height. ]

When I arrived, I was told the Sacred Gem was my connection to the world. When I inquired further on that subject, they chose to remain silent. Have you a better answer?

[ Truthfully, Zack isn't easily intimidated by anything, though he does have a healthy amount of respect for ladies who mean business.

She asks a fair question, and Zack lets out a soft hum before he responds. ]

The Sacred Gem is the source of all life and creation. The Shards of it that we carry are pieces of it that were scattered across the universe when it was broken by a great battle between the gods of the world.

When they say that the Shards are what link us to our worlds, it's meant very literally. It's by the power of our Shards that our worlds were born, and if that connection is severed, our worlds can disappear.
