Choo — no, maybe Khu-Khu... something, I dunno, it was some weird sort of name that I can't pronounce. [ like all the other places here. ] Usually I just called you "Lancer", it was a lot easier.

Don't worry about it. [ he'd prefer it if she didn't use his name at all. ] Lancer's what I'd prefer to go by.

[ so long as he remained a servant and was unaware of his place in the scheme of this world, anyway. ] So, I have been here before, eh? And what's your name?

[ yeah, she kinda got that vibe from him when he didn't laugh at her out of recognition, and immediately she thinks of merida and how badly she might take this. korra can't go running off to talk to her right now, but she'll seek her out later and break the news gently if she hasn't heard.

It comes with the territory. [ lancer doesn't elaborate on what territory that was. if she had known him in the past, she may very well be able to guess. ] Not as though it's something that can be changed. I might as well accept it.

So, I'm curious. Just how well did you know me, Korra? Must've been pretty well to get my name.

[ something something about being some sort of hero in the past, a spirit now, she wasn't really paying attention because she was young and stupid more interested in other things and never asked. ]

...Huh. [ that sure sounded interesting. ] Maybe I regret forgetting, just a little. [ heroic exploits were his thing, yanno. at least other people remembered it. ]

If I know anything about this place it's that there's always something going on.

[ and that's putting it lightly. ]

And you're the type of woman to try and clean up that sort of thing, eh? [ she did say that he had helped her and someone else. she must be quite strong, then. ]

Last time I was here, this place was a warzone.

[ and she doesn't mean to sound bitter, but... she kind of is. a lot of innocent people got hurt, even if she eventually took to heart the very nature of her court and became a huge supporter of the cycle. ]

I'm not convinced that it's gonna change if we leave it up to the court leaders.

Kings and queens are always looking for ways to start a war. [ he had plenty of experience with that. ] It seems peaceful at the moment, though. [ even though he had no experience with these court leaders, he didn't doubt korra's words.

So, are you planning on treating with them or defying them?

I plan on protecting people as best I can.

[ emphasis on "plan" because rarely have things ever truly worked out that way. she's good at her job.... back home. here in the drabwurld she finds herself off her stride more than a few times, but hopefully things will be a little easier this go around. ]

I suggest you find out what your court wants from you as soon as you can. Then you can come back and tell me what you plan on doing.

Hah. Sounds good to me.

[ although lancer wasn't necessarily the type for plans, his life had revolved around protecting his kingdom for so long he can't think of anything else. that had changed with the holy grail but, at his core, he was still a hero. in the past that had meant serving his king to protect his kingdom, whatever orders he might have been given, but his king was long since dead. if he was able to protect the people from war here, he would do it without question. ]

I can do that, if you tell me where to find you.
