Nature itself has shaped itself into tables, chairs, and long couches so that the new guests can rest. When they’re ready to call it a night, Shardbearers are brought to their court strongholds in a one-way trip by fairies and imps. 02. NETWORK Take advantage of your Locket! The network can be accessed by any Shardbearer with a locket or shardless characters with enchanted devices, and is a quick way to meet new people and discuss the state of the world. 03. WILDCARD. Your own scenario! Explore the Drabwurld! There are lots of places to go, and plenty of trouble to get into in them!

[ its so weird, seeing all this... mingling and stuff. really absolutely bizarre, at least, it is if youleft expecting you'd have to shank someone from a different court if they got too close... instead...

there's pies? and cakes?? and cute little bug fairies? ]

[ he wants to go find rizhao, of course, but... he can wait. ]

And that it doesn't hurt the plants. How do you think they do something like this?

[ and don't say "magic," mako. korra knows very well that this is just a conversation to waste time before they can just bolt into the distance to find rizhao. or asami. preferably both. but if they're being realistic, then rizhao has a better chance of being here than asami does, though korra's not getting her hopes too high for either likelihood. ]

Maybe its like those miniature trees... [ he casts about for the right name of the plants... he's read plenty more over time about things a lot more relevant to his field, but... ] Whatever they're called. They're supposed to grow into a certain shape and stay that way, but that takes ages... so they probably cheated with magic for this.

[ OK SO HE FINISHED THE THEORY WITH "magic" but at least he didnt start with it? and they can keep up pretending they're not just waiting until they get a better lay of the land, figure out where the hell their different "courts" are going to take them, and the work around it. ]

[ the first thing that comes to mind is "bonsai" but those aren't shaped... korra takes her bottom lip between her teeth for a moment before— ]

Oh, topiaries! [ the earth queen had them being set up in her garden when she went to visit to ask about the airbenders over three years ago. ] I wonder if the nymphs helped.

[ said mostly to herself because now she's sorta thinking about plantbending... katara told her about the swampbenders and the one who manipulated the water in the vines, but this is something entirely different. h m m m . . . ]

Aren't those just cut to be in the shapes they are? [ he could have sworn the other ones, the little trees, used wires to get them grow into shapes... ]

Not always. I think the complicated ones have to be grown into place.

[ and y'know. trimmed up.

this is dumb why are they talking about topiaries. ]

... That's ridiculous.

[ because we're stalling for time, okay. or. something.

but, speaking of looking around, it brings back to mind that there's only two people they're looking for: rizhao and asami. ]

And we need to find out how serious this truce is — or what the new courts are. I only know mine is in Glaschu, near the Greenwood...

[ something something, pretend we already know what our courts are. jk. ]

[ said dryly, with a note of seriousness. she doesn't mourn the loss of hou-ting after seeing how she treated the airbenders, but she's not going to joke about the woman's death, either. ]

I haven't even asked where mine is yet. I saw Merida and a couple others...

[ so, you know, too wrapped up in touching base with her friends that courts fall by the wayside. ]

[ you know mako, though, korra, always angling for a better understanding of the situation. habitually, he starts to reach for his fieldwork notebook, like he's going to go hunt merida down and start interviewing her for details right then and there... until he remembers that one, he doesn't have his notebook in his suit, two, it probably burned to a crisp with his apartment in the explosion, and three, he needs two hands to write in it, unless he wants to start taking notes on his cast.

instead he drops his good hand, and sighs. ]

No sign of Asami? [ rizhao, he hopes, he would at least KNOW if she were nearby, and since he hasn't been tackled by either a small child or a large dragon, he can probably safely rule her out. ]

[ turning her eyes down, korra slowly shakes her head. ]

... No.

[ she's trying not to let it get to her, but there's an aching mass in her chest that seems to hurt more with every passing second. the nature of this place means that korra is still naive to think that asami would have remained here, but maybe that's always going to be korra's crutch: the hope she'll never let go of. ]

[ ah.. he hadn't meant for that question to have that sort of impact on korra, just trying to keep an open mind about what steps to take next. ]

Hey... [ mako turns, stepping around korra so she's on the same side as his good arm, and carefully lifts his hand to her shoulder. ] We'll look, for her and Ri.

[ she knows that, but she's also been here at the party for what feels like hours, and even with this crowd... asami should be easy to spot. looking up at mako, korra offers him a light smile, resting a hand on his wrist before she casts her eyes over the crowd again.

it is entirely possible that asami forwent the feast to take care of rizhao — so korra will let that possibility hover in her mind for the time being. ]

I think the truce only lasts for tonight. Once we're back at our courts, all bets are off.
