[ Snow knows there are worlds other than the Mundy world that have been untouched by The Adversary - he can't possibly be so powerful as to have taken all of them. Still, though, she can't help but feel a little paranoid, despite the revelry going on around her, that this isn't some trick of his.

That she isn't back in the Homelands, some kind of slave to the Empire now.

She puts on a brave face, though. She always does. She's been through far worse than - a party, after all, so she keeps her spine straight, and her expression schooled into something vaguely concerned, her bright blue eyes scanning the room for any sign of a familiar face. She could really use one right about now. ]

I can't say I appreciate being tricked into stepping into another world.

[motherbase]

[ maybe the woman wasn't addressing him. maybe she was merely musing aloud -- people did that, from time to time. but snake (naked snake, as he insists on still calling himself despite the gift of another title) picked up on her frustration and echoed it back to her. ]

I don't imagine many of us appreciate it -- [ he takes a drag from his cigar, frowns at its glowing tip, and then seems to grumble in the back of his throat. ]

[ It seems her life is destined to be filled with gruff, scruffy men who smoke. If it bothers her, she doesn't give any indication of it, either in her expression or her body language. ]

If that's the case, there must be some sort of group organizing, protesting. Petitioning. There has to be a way to petition the rulers, at least.

[ at least he doesn't laugh. but he does offer up an uncertain look -- as if he doesn't quite know what to do with her optimism. her determination. ] I haven't actually thought that far ahead, yet.

Well, someone must have. Clearly, there's a system of government in place. And they must have incentive to at least hear us - if they intend for us to fight their war for them.
