THE SEELIE COURT

[ Snuffling around at everything as he picks up endlessly weird foreign scents, a very large, scaly black dragon can be seen occasionally gobbling up one of the fish dishes on the table when the delicious smell of them reaches his twitching nostrils. Licking his lips, he doesn't appear to be a particularly dangerous or wild creature, with curious big green eyes and ... wearing a saddle, large enough for an adult. Following the cables down his tail, it's not difficult to notice one of the tail-fins is hand-made, a horned skull-like motif painted on red leather.

More often than not, he croons and barks to try and get the attention of his absent rider. Hiccup is missing, something that stresses out the Night Fury more than finding himself lost; they should be lost together. ]


THE STATION

[ Transported by fairy-ring, Toothless squints warily at the odd circle of flowers and hastily makes his way to the large sleek building nearby, trotting his way into the kitchen. He knocks a few things off the sides, pots and pans, but that's only because he's busy sitting on his hind legs to reach the cupboards and taste the goodies hidden inside.

No manners, nope. ]

[He's been avoiding getting his hopes up that one day, someone he knows will end up at one of these feasts. Mostly because every time he thinks he sees someone, he's only disappointed moments later when it's revealed that he was wrong.

But this time. This time, it's impossible to mistake that shape, those green eyes, those wings. In this instant, Hiccup feels like all the wishes he's ever made here have come true.]

Toothless! [No thinking about it first, he races down the table toward the Night Fury.] Oh my g-- Bud, I can't believe you're actually here!

[ Head-fins perking, he glances around beaming and abruptly blinks in astonishment to see one very little rider coming his way. That's odd, but not enough to stop him galloping over with a happy warble, headbutting his boy's front affectionately.

Ducking down to sniff enthusiastically all over Hiccup is his next port of call, wondering why he's shrunk. ]

[Not bothering to hold back the laugh that comes with Toothless headbutting him in the chest, Hiccup's hands immediately go to the dragon, stroking along his head. Gods, he's missed his best friend, it seems almost too good to be true to have him here now.]

Hey, hey, whoa-- [He's laughing as he talks, but a little confused as to why Toothless is sniffing him all over like this. It's not like he's been the one missing him for so long, right?] What's up? Do I smell funny, or something?

[ Just like his own rider has doubled in height by the age of twenty, when Toothless sits up in front of the short boy the difference makes itself known in the dragon too, in the new fins under his jaw and harder scales. That and, upon inspection, the saddle across his shoulders is set for legs far wider than the teenager's plus a different prosthetic connection.

He looks him up and down, trying to point out the ratio difference. ]

[ The sharp barking sound is more than enough to catch her attention and Hermione whirls around, eyes widening and only getting bigger when she realises there's a dragon walking around. An actual dragon, like the one she'd rode out of Gringotts, just... Smaller, much smaller than she's used to seeing. She'd be a little more worried about it being dangerous if it wasn't so... Adorable. Adorable plus looking a little lost, and that was enough to break Hermione's heart ever so slightly.

Walking over, she holds out a hand gently, trying to smile. ]

Hi there. Do you need help?

[tailfin]

[ He regards her curiously, the extended hand a familiar gesture of peace. Picky about who gets to touch him, he sniffs her fingers to give them a gentle nudge with his nose and promptly sits down to give her a closer look as his eyes dilate. Smiling is familiar, he can read her expression well after so long with Hiccup, so his alarm isn't raised by the strange girl.

Licking a bit of remaining butter off his lips, Toothless gives a forlorn huff and glances at his empty saddle, trying to point out the missing element. ]

[brainiest]

[ It's very easy to relax once she realises that he's hardly a danger, her lips curling into a slightly more relaxed smile. He doesn't look like he's about to attack and even if he was she'd be more than capable of defending herself. Stepping forward, she nods her head and watches him, keeping a hand out just in case he wants to keep sniffing and testing her.

She did Care of Magical Creatures for a few years, after all. ]

Oh! [ She glances at the saddle and tilts her head. ] You've lost your rider?

[tailfin]

[ A slow blink passes for a Yes, along with the dip of his head. Intelligent enough to understand more human speech than not, a glance is given over the crowd as his ear-fins droop in disappointment. A missing rider, yeah, and he can't smell him here; it's stink central, nose-wise.

His tail curls around his body, watching her with interest. And then he licks her hand, leaving friendly albeit slobbery drool on it. ]

[ Hermione frowns, looking around. She hadn't heard of anyone missing a dragon - she would definitely remember that - and she's about to comment on the whole situation when her hand is suddenly, inexplicably damp. Wrinkling her nose she glances at it before looking over at the dragon again, biting back her laughter. ]

Thank you for that.

[ She shakes her head before she steps closer, reaching out to, maybe, touch his head. ]

Can you tell me anything about him? I mean, obviously you can't speak English but...

[tailfin]

[ Squinting as he tries to understand what she wants him to do since talking is out of the question and he isn't sure how to summarise Hiccup as a concept (hopping around, maybe, or babbling a lot), he's shortly distracted by the petting and rumbles up an approving purr in the pit of his chest, pushing his big head under her hand like a demanding cat. That's nice, she's definitely friendly enough to get his stamp of approval now.

Wherever Hiccup is, he'll just have to wait a bit longer. ]

[brainiest]

[ Laughing, Hermione moves closer and pats at his head a little more, stepping into his space and letting herself enjoy it. He's a lot like Crookshanks and it's adorable, her heart warming in her chest. ]

You're charming, aren't you?

[tailfin]

[ Cooing his agreement, when he raises his head it's to attempt a gummy smile for her, the one perfected after five years of knowing his boy. On the floor his tail beats happily, wagging and almost swiping passers-by off their feet. ]

[brainiest]

[ Adorable. Hermione is completely bespelled by this lovely dragon and she moves closer, reaching to rub under his chin carefully. If he's anything like her cat then, well, he's going to love this. ]

Do you have a name, I wonder...

[tailfin]

[ He all but collapses in a heap when his chin is rubbed, rolling over onto his back to invite more pettings. If he could speak he'd tell her his name, but for now he'll bask in the attention looking entirely satisfied with these developments. ]

[ She just grins, moving and settling at his side before she reaches out to scratch at the dragon's stomach. She really should try and find out who his rider is and if he's here but, honestly, she's a little too enthralled to do anything more than pet away and consider adopting him herself. ]
